(mods if this is in the wrong section i apologize)

I have been trying to incorporate knives into my martial arts for a while now (since knives and guns are the only two practical weapons for the average person) I have a problem though, none of the styles around here work much with knives or how to effectively defend against one.
I have searched extensively and im having difficulty on finding any reliable reading material to help develop my knoweledge around. Would anyone know of a book or site i could get info of off? Im hoping to specialize it around bowie and bearclaw (also known as a steal talon) style knives.

I think Aikido has knife usage and knife defense techniques.
Another good pratical weapon is a belt. Harder to use, but quite effective.

Main things about defense against knives, keep the knife away from you, in other words, where it can't harm you and always keep your eye on it. If possible, dissarm your attacker. Don't wrestle the weapon out of their hand. Lock their arms, twist their wrist, make it so they have to drop the weapon.

Knife fighting, well that depends. In the art I'm in, we like keeping the knives hidden. We even have a grip where the dull end of the blade is against the under-side of our arm. We use them to attack vitals.

Look into ninjitsu. PM me if you like! ^.^

ooo... belts are fun. I like ropes better; they're easier to use. But who carries a rope on them constantly?

*ahem*

If you want to learn how to use knives, I recommend learning Arnis/Escrima/Kali (different words for the same Filipino Martial Art). FMA is primarily a weapon art and it goes into great length on how to use and disarm knives (and knife and sword (espada y daga) and some schools teach double knives). Some seasoned martial artists that I know that take up different styles say that they like Arnis for it's efficiency in fighting with and taking away knives.
