okie well today at school we watched the Passion of the Christ [yeah i noticed they dont seem to notice age diference either T.T] anyways although it was gory and all, one of my classmates said i must have enjoyed seeing Jesus go through all that because i was crying. first off i did get watery eyes, but i wasn't sobbing so loud that i couldn't hear the movie like most of the front row did. Also i notced the Mary never cried until he was actually hanged on the cross. so because i didnt cry as much as some other clas smates did, does that mean i enjoyed watching Jesus suffer like that? I thought not

I don't think it meant you enjoyed watching it more then others. It wasn't nice of the person to say that too you. I ahve to admit I only teared up a bit when I watched it. Buit my cousins were crying away. But I found it to be quite a poignent film. And I thought it made the gift he gave for us seem so much more then what I had seen in other films. Considering how horribly painful all the beatings looked in the film. It was a hard film to watch.

It doesn't mean you enjoyed it, it just means that it really affected you. It really hit that button. It's hard to explain.
I would've cried during the film but throughout the film there were all of these things done inaccurately so much to the point where I was just heavily disappointed and frustrated. Even when the crucification part came, which was, for the most part, very good, I couldn't even get into it alot because I was waiting for them to screw something else up. >_< Just my views on it, but I found alot of it was not being true to the Bible.

In what way Jeikobu? Obviously the throwing Jesus over the bridge while chained wasn't in the Bible, but what else wasn't?

well, when that lady walked up to him and cleaned his face while carrying the cross isnt in the Bible, but it is a Catholic belief i heard. Also i don't recall ever hearing the **** crow, just Jesus telling Peter that it would, but i dont think the movie ever had **** crowing. Also i dont remember reading about Judas being played with demons like in the movie [the evil haunting children *shudders* >.<] i dont know if it is in there or not, i dotn remeber it, but i might have overlooked it, yes i know that the demons might have come in another way besides kids, but i dont remeber anything about demons messing with him. Also i dont remeber the anything about a serpent in the beggining when he is praying and the devil tempts him and stuff [sorta, more like discourages] but i dont rember a snake coming up towards Jesus in the Biblw. i think that was it. also i noticed alot of people in the movie [disciples, mother, etc.] never cried or might have not cried until when he was hung up or when blood was spurting everywhere when he was being nailed >.< [yeah too graphical for me i think, surprised i didn't have a hard time with all that blood O.o]

I don't think it was so much adding to what happened in the Bible as it was portraying certain things symbolicly. And certain parts do also come from Catholic practices such as the Way of the Cross.

yes it is based more on the Catholic side, but all in all, it still was a great movie no wonder so many were saved after that movie came out. ^_^

You have a point, CDL. I saw it twice (can't believe it), and both times I didn't cry. I felt bad the first time around, but when I saw it again, almost nothing affected me. The one thing that made me upset is when the centurion removed his helmet in respect and awe. I was so hoping he'd say "Truly this was the Son of God", but nothing happened. I walked out of the theater angry.

Yes, I agree with CDLviking. Its probably meant to be symbolic. And this movie is so hard to watch because of the graphic violence and that its directed at Jesus, Our Saviour.

People talk about how gory it was, but I've always imagined the real thing as much worse than what Mel was willing to show us.

yes i believe if we saw a 5 ro 10 second preview of the real thing, you would do more then cry. Maybe have nightmares from all the blood for the next 27 years of your life >.<
