I think this looks really good. I have never seen the orginal but I wouldn't mind seeing it. This looks like one of those movies that doesn't glamoroize Tom Cruise like The Last Samurai and A Few Good Men.

Anyone else?

I'm very jazzed about seeing this--it looks awesome. And while I'm not totally gaga over Tom Cruise, I think he's a great actor so I'm sure it will be great.

And Hitokiri, I think your sig just induced a few seizures. O_o

o_o;;; I agree with Ash about your sig, Hitokiri. Whoa, I can't stop seeing spots before my eyes. *blinkblink*

Well, I just watched two trailers for this movie and it has got me all psyched. Dakota Fanning does such a great job of playing a little girl "totally freaked out and scared" over something. I don't think I've ever gone to a movie because it had a certain actor or actress in it, so I certainly wouldn't watch it for Tom Cruise. And, the graphics look great!

Do you know the date when it will be released?

I'm very curious as to how they'll do this. The original was interesting, but not exactly the type of story that would hold a full length films. One route they could have taken would be to make it like a documentary (similar to the original production of War of the Worlds). Most likely they'll add a storyline, which will be the determining factor for this movie.

I've seen the original movie from 1953 and read the book from 1897(?) but I think this remake should be still set in the original era the book was set in! Not everything has to be in modern times. Still looks good though.

Has anyone here heard the radio versian that was played on halloween night back sometime in the 30s and caused a huge panic? People turned on their radios and thought the world was ending. It really is an interesting piece of work, and I own it on CD. XD

That is what I refer to, and the permutation of War of the Worlds that I find most interesting. I wasn't terribly impressed by the book, but the very fact that this radio announcement was able to convince some people makes it very interesting to me.
