I've seen a few Star Wars Fan Films and some of them are quite good. This website has the trailer for an upcoming 40 minute fan film. The special effects and graphics look great and the acting looks bad - so almost like classic Star Wars film! Check it out!

The effects are very, very good.
One problem, though, is that a lot of DV live action looks "too good" -- I can see why George Lucas put artificial film grain in his digital movies to give it the right stylistic look.
