CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Anyone seen any of the Movies nominated for best picture this year? If so, what did you think of them?

I myself have only seen Finding Neverland, and of all the movies I saw this year it was one of the least entertaining. It was a very good movie about the life of James Berrie, but it didn't have a great moral that I could see, and failed t ocatch my interest. Ray and The Aviator look like they might be worth watching, but nothing about the other two options for best picture, Million Dollar Baby and Sideways, look very apealing. Why is it that the movies I like the least are the ones that people say are the best.

Ray will probably have a best actor award where Million Dollar Baby takes best actress. I think The Aviator wins best picture although I would like to see either Sideways or Finding Neverland win best picture.

I was dissapointed that Hotel Rwanda was not nominated for best picture, I found it to be very moving

I'm not even going to bother watching the Oscar's this time around. There are no movies or actors out there I'm really rooting for, and as far as I'm concerned, Hollywood has become a cult unto itself, where only their opinions matter to them and no one elses.

Ugh, that's IT for the best movies of this year? What about Resident Evil Apocalypse or Sky Captain or The Incredibles or Phantom of the Opera (which though I haven't seen looks to be fantastic)--I mean jeez, none of those were by far my favorite movie but I think they were better than some of the other ....things nominated.

I suspect Incredibles will win for best animated feature, and that the fact that it is animated is the one reason that it is not a nomination.

Bleh Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind didn't even get nodded for anything aside from Kate Winslett for Best Actress.

I don't know, this years' awards were just kinda drab...then again aren't they always.

Phantom of the Opera didn't deserve anything, and I"m glad it got nothing (from what I"ve heard, didn't watch the oscars) I saw the movie and was GREATLY disappointed by the lack of focus on story and character development. Joel Schumacher lived up to his reputation of relying solely on props and special effects and giving almost NO attention to storylines and characters.

The only scenes I give him HIGH credit for is the opening and the scene where the "Phantom" theme song was sung. Nice work, except even the Phantom theme scenes needed more reworking.

ALW should have held out for a better director.

As for the Incredibles...well, it doesn't stand a chacne, unless they re edit it to have Frozone let loose with the curse words and Mr. Incredible has affairs.

Why wasn't Casshern nominated? It should at least get best foreign film.

I hate Hollywood more than I can describe.

Well, Eternal Sunshine did get best original screenplay, which I think is sufficient. Not to menton the fact that the Incredibles did get best animated feature and best sound editing, which is more than I expected. I am a bit dissapointed that Hotel Rwanda got absolutly nothing though.

Well, I'm a big fan of Finding Neverland, and I am not happy that it only got dinky awards. I knew it wasn't going to take home anything big, because you can't really succeed in hollywood without stab people in the eye balls with sex, but I was disappointed none the less.

watched Ray the other night, other than that, Finding Neverland was the only other 'best picture' movie i've seen. Neverland was very good, and a touching movie, but hollywood doesn't really go in for touching Jamie Foxx did an awesome job as Ray Charles, portraying him in his struggle with heroine, frequent affairs, and love for music. but i didn't watch the awards, never have, and probably never will...

At least the Incredibles won best animated feature.

Sideways!

I loved that movie.

I have yet to see any of the movies which were up for best picture. The ones I want to see badly are Sideways (I love that area of the country and wine), Million Dollar Baby (love boxing) and Ray (a great singing legend). Aviator might be fun to watch since it supposedly has some great aerial cinematography. I have no desire to see Finding Neverland, and had a feeling on a Christian site it would be the most popular. I think it's the only one which was rated PG. :p *heh*

I'll hopefully get to seeing Million Dollar Baby this weekend. I've been dying to see it.

I think the Oscars were a bust this year for the most part. About the only positive thing I can say is that Spidey 2 won best visual effects.

actually, I thought that I robot should have won that category, so that was a disapointment for me.

I actually agree with you, but I am happy for Spider-Man 2.

Yeah, taht was a good movie, even though it wasn't as good as I Robot
