Just found out myself... I figured I'd pop in and share it. Truthfully... as someone who grew up with the original Looney Tunes.... it makes me mad.

I wish the creator (forgot his name) were still alive to smack these bimbos upside the head.

I will peek out from my lurking place to say that that idea sounds really, really bad.

The most horribly stupid idea I have ever heard of.

While I was never overly huge fan of western cartoons (they struck me a plain stupid usually) I WILL say that I absolutely hate the idea. The president of WB said they were trying to better compete with anime, I guess by ripping off Teen Titans.

I see no problem in competing with anime but DO THEY HAVE (sorry for screaming, do they have to RECYCLE!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

And do the have to recycle the best cartoon characters of all time? (I don't count anime as cartoons). What next? Fred Flintstone as Caveman, Stone Avenger of Bedrock? The Futuristic Perils of Penelope Pitstop in Outer Space?

The biggest problem with US animation (European Cartoons & Japanese animation dont have this though) is that an animated series rarely follows a Plot Arc. This is my biggest complaint against "Samurai Jack"; its a great, beautifully animated show that I love watching but it feels ultimately like its going nowhere. I feel that "Loonatics" is going to go nowhere too.

So when can expect Super Extreme Peanuts X, with giant robotic Snoop-drones....

Smurf-tron and the 38th Century....

Off course the original Loony Tunes and shows like "Dexter's Laboratory" don't need plot arcs because each cartoon works best in their own contained enviroment, but for "super-hero plots" you need an Arc. One of the few that got away with not having an arc was the orginal early 1990s Batman series because each episode was well written. Batman Of the Future seriously needed arcs if you asked me for instance.

I suppose the biggest problem with US animation is that they want shows to run forever so they don't concoct arcs. In Japan they don't mind if a show end as long as it was a good trip towards it. (and I don't mean trip in a "trippy" fashion).

bigsleepj, they look *evil* in that picture! They also look stupid. Not everything has to be hip and cool. That was the beauty of Warners Bros cartoons, their wit, charm and humor, as well as their timelessness.

Well, I didn't draw them.

You make a very good point though. The original cartoons had a sort of elegance to them (What's Opera, Doc) and a sort of naive atmosphere. Now they just look like Matrix Knock-offs. I suppose Keanu Reeves will play Bugs in the Live-action version.

Edit: If Tintin 2000 comes then I'm moving to a desert island.

Man, that's sad.

You know, there was something so innocent about the original WB cartoons. Sure, you had animals hitting each other and blowing each other up - but there was that unreality there. It didn't have any ulterior motives - it was just there to make you laugh and enjoy yourself.

These cartoons - terrible. They look, yes, I'll say it- evil. I know you've got styles of animation like Teen Titans and Invader Zim (both of which I enjoy) which could also be called evil with the use of shadow and eyes, etc. ; but at least we know TT are heroes by their actions, and that Invader Zim is funny (and quite a bit satirical -sp?- as well). The impression I get from the new WB design is a moody, dark one.

Not exactaly something I'd love my future kids to be watching on Saturday Mornings -_-' . Especially when remembering how it used to be.

I mean, it's just my opinion and all - so it's cool if you don't agree.. but I also find it disturbing, and worrying, too. I hope this isn't the forerunner of a developing trend.

Their look is more snarky than cheerful. Let's just say the new Road Runner looks even more like a literal speed freak.
