dialog box instead of 404 page

For anyone out there who might know what's going on.... We're in the process of switching servers where I work and it's causing problems with intranet addressees in asp.net-generated links being wrong an so forth. We're working around them manually for the time being. But the problem is on two computers, instead of throwing a 404 page where the 'wrong' address is displayed and can be manually 'corrected', a pop-up dialog box is given instead, saying the page couldn't be found and gives no options. It's gotta be a settings issue, but so far we have no idea why these two computers are reacting differently. Both are using EI8, one is Vista, one XP.
Anybody have an idea?

Is it possible to right-click on the link in question and "copy" it? That might work as a temporary fix. Sorry I'm not much more help, I haven't been active in the IE8 arena. :D

Yes, that's the only work-around we could find too. Unfortunately it just adds one more step which the boss would rather not perform. :P Oh well. If he wants it fixed fast, he may have to fork out the dough for an actual network guru instead of relying on us amateur employees. :shake: I avoid IE myself.
