ATI all in wonder HD / convert HDMI high def to standard def?

Postby Bobtheduck » Sun Aug 17, 2008 4:13 am

I got an All-in-wonder HD because my old All-in-Wonder card died on me. On my old card, I could input RCA cables and also output composite cables... In this, the only input is RF cable (???) beause it's not interesting itself in being a capture card as much as a "watch TV on it and also run 3d games" card... So, it has an HDMI output and a DVI output... I use the DVI output for my monitor, but I loved having my TV act as my second monitor, but I don't have access to our HDTV... So... is there a way to convert this to standard def, to output to my VCR instead of to an HDTV?

Seriously, since my old All-in-wonder died, I've been seriously gimped... not having RCA inputs means my captures are all lower quality now, and I can't watch youtube / netflix stuff on full screen, not to mention I used to play my emulators on my TV instead of the monitor... The TV is bigger and much more pleasant to look at from a distance...

BTW, I have no money at the moment, and I don't have any more free PCI Express slots, no AGP slots at all, and several PCI slots...

In any case, UT3 finally runs better on the PC than it does on my PS3... Didn't think I'd see that day until I got a new computer... And I'd rather have TV output (and output to VCR, moreso) than UT3 looking a little better (or being able to get Mass Effect, which I may be doing next week with my remaining birthday gamestop giftcard money instead of getting Eye of Judgment)

EDIT: I've been looking on ATI's site, and they don't even make cards that output composite anymore... They were in the x1900 series, and that's been dead since 2006... Seems they assume everyone in the market for a card like this will

1. Have an HDTV
2. Not have a need for outputting to a source like a VCR...
3. Would rather watch TV on their tiny little monitors than on their big TVs if their TVs are standard def...

GAH...
