I'm looking for a good, downloadable, temporary anti-virus program for that I can use for a short period of time until I can purchase a good one. Can anyone recommend a good one to me?
Thank you.

AVG Antivirus is a really good free program --it's the one I use on my computer --it actually has caught more things than the Norton program I had did.
Here's the link:

Actually, I've been having trouble with AVG and was hoping for something else.

>_> I like AVG the best... I've never had a problem with it.. It has saved my bacon WAY more times than my crappy Norton did...

If it's only temporary, you could go with Avast. I know some people swear by it, and it seems decent, but I don't like the way it does a number of things. Those aside, it should be fine for temporary protection.
Though I haven't tested it myself, you could also try Avira Antivir - this one is allegedly less of a drain on system resources than others, so that might help.
Be careful when you buy your commercial antivirus, though. Products like Norton and McAfee are behemoths that sap more than most spyware or adware would and aren't incredibly more effective at catching viruses than most free programs.

If I might offer a less heard about alternative, I'd like to recommend
Windows Live OneCare. Although it is not free, it will allow you to use it for 90 days on a trial basis to decide if you like it. I've been using it for well over a year now, and it's been working great for me; it doesn't use a lot of system resources and has never crashed on me. I think you may like it.
