Does anyone else have a Palm of any type? If so, tell us what you have and what you do with it.
I have a little Zire 31, PalmOS 5, and I love the little thing to death. With AvantGo, there is a day's worth of news on it everyday (that I plug it in in the morning), my old Documents To Go demo (the new demo is only 30 days) lets me read whatever documents I can copy off websites (zines, tutorials etc) as well as work on college courses at work. Top it all off with excellent freeware games like Missle Command, Bubblet and Prison (arkanoid clone), and you have an excellent tool/entertainment device.

I own an m505, which I used up until this year, and a Zire 72. I use the Zire 72 for photo reminders (using the built-in camera), recording quick-clip video, drug and medical databases, quick notes, contact info, and too many games.

Yeah, but it takes me 5 seconds to grab my Handspring visor and fold up keyboard (about the same size as the visor!) and I can jam them in my pocket. When I get to my meetings, I sit down quietly and people glare at me for not showing up with writing utensils. If someone says something intersting, I can have my entire setup ready to go in 7-8 seconds. Can you boot your laptop in that amount of time? Carry it in your pockets? Use it for 8 hours strait? Never have to reboot it?

Seeing how I always have my laptop with me.
My Palm is useful precisely because it's portable. A PowerBook doesn't fit very well in a pocket, which is where my Palm Pilot normally is.
If it works for you, fine, but I found that the Pilot's size has been its big advantage for me, as well as the medical applications.

How much does your book bag weigh? Has your chiropracter advised you to "lighten the load" yet?

Yep, I gotta agree. While a laptop can do 100,000x what a palm can, they are also much bulkier, have typically shorter battery life, and longer boot times. Not to say that if anyone has a spare laptop lying around, I wouldn't take it off thier hands for them.
I have seen reveiws for true palmtop comuters that run full versions of Windows, have fold out or attachable keyboards, bigger RAM and harddrives than my desktop, and are 5-6 in. by 3.5-4.5 in. They aren't perfect yet, and they still run two grand, but give it a another year or two, and this argument could become moot.
Volt, how do you power the PS1 in your bag? Just find an outlet, or do you have some kind of battery in there? I have a bag I take everywhere that that kind of setup would work in, so you have piqued my interest.
