; ________ ; imo, that was a really dumb thing to do. they should have just IP-banned the jerk who was abusing the service instead of blocking one of the biggest ISPs in the country. :shady:

Maybe it's your subnet, SH?

you mean our home network? but how could that be?

hang on, here's the rest of the error message.

This type of ban is reserved for only the most extreme cases of abuse and prevents anyone using your particular ISP from creating a new deviantART account.

This may be either a temporary or permanent measure depending on the nature of the abuse. Due to the manner in which your service provider handles its users we are unable to narrow the ban any further and cannot specifically exclude you.

This does not imply that you have personally caused this action, but rather it may be the actions of someone unknown to you who simply shares your ISP.

Please be patient, or, if the option is available, use a different ISP, until we feel that this ban may be lifted or otherwise modified.

If Cox offers dialup or changes the IP address assigned to individuals, DA can't IP-ban. You could always try routing through a proxy, or using a different connection. (friend with different ISP, school/library net connection, laptop+wireless hotspot, &c)
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

No, I mean, they subdivide their national network into smaller geographical subnets. Thus, it could just be your local subnet that's being blocked, since that -is- predictable (as Kali stated, it's undoubtedly the variable nature of Cox' address assignment that caused them to act so drastically) and explains why Kokoro has no trouble.

I'm reading here that they don't let you CREATE an account. If kokoro has one already, then logging in must be allowed, or she'd get banned too. We can test this theory... Have someone you know (whoever is on MSN when you see this) create an account for you from somewhere else. Then you can try to login from Cox and verify...

That makes too much sense. I advise against it.
