Quicktime

Postby Arnobius » Fri Mar 25, 2005 10:56 pm

Looking to see if anyone has had a problem with Quicktime crashing in Windows. First time I've ever seen that-- says it can't find the hard drive... Microsoft says it's a problem with Apple and to contact them, while Apple says to blame MS.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime, and I doubt that every .mov file on my HD could be corrupted.

Only other thing I can think of is that this drive was restored from a backup (HP loves to say "do a clean install" when they don't know what they're talking about.

OK. The db ate this THREE times. If this doesn't post, I give up.

It looks like the HD label has changed since QT was installed.

What is the exact error message you are receiving?

I was able to fix the problem (LATE last night) though by finding an alternate version of Quicktime, called "Quicktime Alternative."

I believe I downloaded the most recent version of QT when I updated iTunes (6.2 I think), and it still didn't work for QT (iTunes seems to be fine).

Well, so long as Alternative doesn't spring any unexpected problems, it should be OK...

Quicktime happens to be an APPLE program (no other program on my computer was messed up like QT was). The neat thing is Quicktime Alternative lets me play .mov files with WMP

Not my first apple problem. It could be that Old Phil had it right with the changed disc label-- only thing I can think of.

I do like Alternative better than the real QT...
