Postby Cloud Strife » Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:21 pm

lets say.... i wanted to install xp on my computer.... alright did that. OOps. IT's only SP1... if i wanted to install sp2, do i have to use the upgrade cd at start-up or can I run it right in windows?I also know you can upgrade over the internet, but i'm afraid you have to burn it to a disk first....

Just run the autoupdater. At least, that's what my gf did.

Your computer will be pretty much inopperatable for a day though... It took her about 15 hours between downloading and rebooting for every other update.

You can download the service pack from Microsoft.

If your computer is set up the same way mine is -- that is, it comes with SP1 preinstalled but you have Microsoft's SP2 update CD -- then you must run the CD in Windows; it won't autoboot on reset. (If I'm understanding you correctly, that is. :) )
