Yahoo IM issues

Postby Stephen » Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:23 pm

Hello Tech folks. A while back, I had to reformat my computers hard drive. I only managed to get some of my programs backed up. After a few annoying weeks of redownloading programs I thought I had everything working. My Yahoo IM said somthing to the effect of "I am old. I can't work anymore, update me" (not in that wording lol) When I tried to update it, it would download the small file...and begin installing. But rather then see a progress bar...the box would go white or grey. My computer slows down like its downloading...but I see no evidence that it is. I am running Winme and I have dial up. So I am used to slow downloads. But I don't think its actually downloading. Does the new YIM need a special java or somthing? (I know they always used a ton of animated stuff...so I am thinking that might have somthing to do with it) Anyone else have issue with the new YIM 8? I've had YIM working on my computer before, so I know its not a WinME issue. :stressed:

Try downloading one of the old versions, I recommend 7.5. I used 8 for a while and didn't like it, so I'm using 7.5 now.
