Riddle Masters

Hey, i don't know if this has been done already, but i'd like to start a riddle competition.
The rules are simple. Write or find a riddle, the clues to the solution should be in the riddle itself, but can also allude to common knowledge sources (scientific laws, the Bible, famous quotes, whatever.) Only one riddle at a time. The person who solves the riddle gets to post the next one. If the person who solved the last riddle does not wish to post a new one, say so, so someone else can have a chance. The person who posted the riddle does not have to give hints, but may, and hints like "you're close" or "i would have accepted x if y" are acceptable, and it is polite to let people know if their answer was wrong (just be polite about informing them, a simple "no" will suffice). If no one has solved the riddle after a week or more, the poster may give the answer and post a new riddle. Also, please keep the riddles, hints, and answers clean.
Here's my riddle, i expect it shouldn't be too hard:
Resting we are wakeful,
For wakes are for us.
Those who speak our name become breathless,
And breathless are we.
Multiplying, we do not conceive.
Dividing, we unify.
Even after death we may grow.
Eyeless we watch,
And sightless we keep vigil.
We leave naught behind,
For we have gone nowhere.
