So there was this pirate out in a public square - red hair, wooden leg, hook, patch - everything. A young boy goes up to him and asks,
"Pardon me sir but are you a real pirate?"
"Ay! That I am!"
"Cool. How did you lose your leg?"
"Well, that be a long story, but the short of it is, I was on the deck of me ship in a battle when a cannon fired and blew through me main mast. It fell crushing me leg. I later took a splinter from that mast and fashioned meself a leg from the wood that crushed me first one! "
"Woah! And, how did you lose your hand?"
"Well, funny you ask lad! In that same battle, I was pulling meself out from under the mast which crushed me leg and a boarder was coming to run me through! Before I could draw he swung so I put me arm out and he took off me hand. He missed the rest of me though and I shot him down before he could swing a second time!"
"That must have hurt!"
"Ay lad it did. But ye do what ye must in times like those."
"And what about your eye then, did you lose that in battle?"
"Er, well, not exactly lad. I lost that a little later. After the battle, which I won, I had me men fix me ship. Once that was done, they fixed me up a new leg, and then a hook for me hand."
The pirate showed the gleaming hook to the curious boy.
"Later that day I was out on the deck enjoying the day and me life which has been spared. I gazed up in the sky I saw me some seagulls playfully flying about and I was thinking of how much I we on this earth need to enjoy the life given us. When, all of a sudden, before I knew it, one of the birds did do the dirty - right in me eye!"
The boy looked puzzled.
"Did it burn your eye?"
"No lad, I went to wipe it out!"
