My Love Tap

This is my first time writing a little testimony, and I'm not exactly sure if this qualifies as one, but I'm not quite sure where to put it, and I wanted to share. ^_^ Hope no one minds.

My Love Tap

I took my driving test today.

I failed.

Stupid parallel parking! I can do it! I did it with my instructor! I know I can do it!

That's what was basically running through my head all afternoon. I had holed myself up in my room as soon as I had gotten home and I was barely speaking with anyone. I wasn't angry with anyone but myself, but I really really wanted my license! I was moping. The only time I came out of my room was for dinner. My mom had been sympathetic before she went to work and so was dad, but sympathy wasn't what I wanted. I wanted that license! They hugged me and told me I would get it next time, and it was nice of them, but it wasn't what I wanted. I ignored my homework and read a book. Lost myself in the book. Moped around for hours. I finally got my homework out and started in on my Advanced Math homework to get ready for my test tomorrow. I reached down to pick up my book and noticed my Bible and my Beloved Disciple workbook. I decided, 'hey, why not do a devotion?' Halfway out of procrastination of homework, halfway cuz I wanted to.

I started doing the devotion, but my mind started wandering. A thought struck me as I was absentmindedly reading a Bible verse.

'I'm being a big baby.'

I had to stop and think about that for a second. Before I even went to take the test, I prayed and said, 'Lord, if I'm ready, help me to get my license'. I didn't get it. Apparently, I was not ready. And now I was moping after getting an answer to my prayer! I was being a really big baby!

It was like God reached down and gave me a love tap on the head and told me to straighten up. He only did what I was asking Him to do. It was silly to be acting like this.

It made me smile.

I think this would qualify as a Testimony. First off let me say I'm sorry your driving test didn't go over well. It must have been frustrating because that all "we" teens think about; getting our licence. I'm glad your feeling better. Sometimes we're not ready for whatever is out there and all we can do is take it with a grain of salt. I didn't really have to take a test, I went to classes and did some drinving hours and i guess I qualified for the licence. But we saved the parallel parking for last; that way we had a couple tries to get it right. But I heard if you do take the test they make you parallel park first, that way if you fail you don't have to waste your whole hour driving.
Whether you pass next time or not I'm sure you eventually pass :). Just glad your not angry anymore. Keep your head high and good luck next time :thumb:

Thanks for sharing that Spirit Wolf, I enjoy all testimonies and yours is a really sweet one. Out of interest what verse were u reading when that thought came into your head? Was it related to your thought of being a big baby?
Like Agasfas said, you'll get it eventually. And I liked the analogy u used of a love tap, "come on sit up straight now". Its a really nice one. Thanks for that.

Thank you so much for sharing this "testimony" Spirit_Wolf. ^____^ I like the "love tap" thing. It's great to know He is always there and considers us small imperfect creatures, and loves us so much that he takes the time to give us a love tap. :)

You know I remember failing my driving test twice and thinking I would never get my license. I think it might have been the parallel parking - can't remember.:stressed: I'm still lousy at parallel parking. Eventually at 18 I got my license :eyeroll: and I've had a perfect driving record since, even after driving for a good part of my life in L.A. traffic.

I know you'll eventually get yours ;) .

I was actually reading John 1:14-16 if I remember correctly. I don't think it really had much to do with the thought, it was just kind of an occuring thing. *shrugs and smiles*

And thank you for your encouragement. I'm trying for it again on Monday. *nervous*

Great testimony, Spirit_Wolf. Isn't it great how the Lord can give us just the message we need just when we need it? And you're right on, God answered your prayer. Sometimes it's hard to recognize that (for me too) when His answer doesn't align with our immediate hopes or expectations. It's like when I bought my house--I missed getting that first one by 2 hours or so and was wondering, "Why?". But then God brought me a much better one soon after. God will work in His time, in the way that is *best* for you. Like our lesson in church today--He is sovereign, He is in control, and best yet, He loves you. So He will do what's best for you *when* it's best for you. I'm glad He was able to fill your heart with that realization, Spirit_Wolf! Good luck on your driving test tomorrow--I will be praying for you!
