We (my sister and I) were blessed to be able to attend the MS Youth Night event this past Friday with some very interesting stories that I'd like to share. Al Meredith is the pastor of Wedgewood BC in a Ft. Worth, Texas and was our speaker. He talked about reaching out to the rejected. And he shared a true story of what God can do through the unexpected.

Jeremiah came from a poor family. He never knew he father and his mother worked two and three jobs just to keep food on the table, so he grew up alone, practically raising himself. Jeremiah was in Jr. High now, and thusly got involved in a church just around the corner and made many friends and loved God. Once Jeremiah entered High School, he drifted away and got into the wrong crowds, the punks and gangsters. One day he found out that he had lost his job, his rent, and that his girlfriend was pregnant. His friends wouldn't help and his mom couldn't and wouldn't do anything. He turned to God. God told him to go back to where he first found him. Jeremiah argued with God. How could they accept him back with his colored hair, piercings, and tattoos? Jeremiah agreed to go, and he did. When he entered the room on Wednesday night, some people recognized him, shouted his name and ran to hug him. He couldn't believe that that remembered him, much less invited him back. Jeremiah became a Christian. Not three months later, Jeremiah was sitting in a back row of a See You At The Pole event at a local church where youth from all over the area worshiped and prayed. Suddenly, the door burst open to reveal a man with guns and at least one hundred rounds of ammo and began firing away. Jeremiah thought it was a skit, until he felt blood from the students behind him soaking into his jeans. Jeremiah sat down on the pew and began rocking back and forth, praying that God would make it stop. Jeremiah's minister tugged on him, shouting for him to get down or he'd be shot. Jeremiah stood up and looked the killer into the eye and said, "You don't need this! You need Jesus!" The murderer cursed at him and loaded another clip into his gun into and aimed at Jeremiah. The baby Christian said to him," Go ahead and shoot me...I know where I'm going, do you?" The man stared and Jeremiah with eyes of regret, realizing what he had done. The darkness left him and he put the gun to his head and took his own life. Seven were wounded and seven killed that night. That was Rev. Meredith's church. God used a baby in Christ to save many people and calm and already fatal disaster. He most certainly works in mysterious ways.
