The Mysterious Penny
One day, when I wandered by,
Something shiny caught my eye.
On the sidewalk, did it lie,
A penny, almost left to die.
I could pick it up and check the year,
And find a pawn shop somewhere near.
I’d buy a rifle and hunt some deer—
This isn’t reality, so I’ll stop right here.
But what if it harbours some strange disease?
Would I faint or would I sneeze?
I’d cough, I’d choke, I’d fall to my knees;
I’d rather not, Oh please!
At last I picked it up with a sigh,
Not knowing how or why.
Such carelessness by and by,
Spotting another penny in reply.

Yes, I was bored. It's pointless, but it was homework.
