The Christmas Season - a poem

I wrote this in 1988 in my writing journal at the time. I just found this notebook and since its Christmas I thought I'd share it here. I know it's pretty rough, but then I'm not a poet.^_^

The Christmas Season

I know the air,
it is crisp and fresh.
I know the colors,
red, yellow, orange and green.
I know the sounds,
bells ringing and rustling of leaves.
I know the smell,
cooking with cinnamon and nutmeg.
I know the sights,
delightful with lights.
I know the flavor,
fresh pies, cider and nog
and I know,
the gift - my Lord and Saviour.
I know the reason,
for the Christmas season.

Urgh, I just read it again. This is definitely something I wrote 15 years ago. *hehe* Thanks for the comments guys - you're being too nice.

What would happen if you rewrote it now?

It expresses a nice sentiment, though, and conjures thoughts of the season quite well.

I didn't really want to rewrite it. Did you mean "now" and not "mow?" Thanks, Icarus. ^-~

Yay, Christmas! (I'm feeling better about Christmas now... not so frazzled anymore.)

Merry Christmas!

I like the poem, chloe, but somehow it doesn't resonate with me here in Central IL. ;) The color of Christmas here is white, and there are no leaves left to rustle. It's interesting what Christmas brings to mind in different regions, but there are some aspects of it that are universal. That's why I enjoyed the ending of your poem.

Thanks, Spiritsword. ^^ A white Christmas would be nice. I've always lived in brown Christmas regions. In California, Christmas is actually like fall in Texas.
