Tashigi Takes Her Leave (One Piece Fanfic)

This is actually a backstory I came up with to play as Tashigi in the O.P. RPG on the board. Some of you may like it, some of you may not, some of you may not have even watched a single episode of OP. But, that's all okay, I'm just putting this here so whoever has a little bit of extra time on their hands has something to do...

After having been seriously wounded in her battle with Miss All-Sunday (A.k.a. Nico Robin) in the battle in Alabasta, Tashigi could not bear to call herself a swordwoman any longer. Having been defeated once by Roronoa Zoro, and now by a member (Previous member now of course) of Baroque Works, all faith in her own skill was lost.
While traveling the sea's with Smoker (Who, of course, is still searching for the Luffy) she slumped into a deep depression, being unable to bring herself to even think about ever defeating someone like Roronoa Zoro or M.A-S./Nico Robin.
Then, the day came where she rediscovered her own spirit. She had overhead the news of the Governments coverup, denying that Luffy defeated Crocodile and instead pinning the victory on Smoker. She learned of Smoker denying the outrageous claim, for he had respect for Luffy's accomplisment, and too much honor within himself to take credit.
Having seen Smoker with such respect for a pirate of all people had given Tashigi a new view on her goals. She understood now that to defeat people such as Roronoa Zoro, she had to know them, she had to understand them.
"Captain Smoker..." Tashigi spoke softly approaching Smoker, who was currently looking off into the distance on the ship. Turning his head slightly toward the ditzy swordswoman he gruffly spoke, "What, Tashigi?" Bowing her head to him, her eyes began to tear-up, "I..." She sniffed, pushing back tears, "I..I.." Smoker was becoming a tad irritated with her stalling "What is it Katana-freak!?" With tears overflowing now, she burst out screaming "I need to leave this ship!"
Both cigars in Smoker's mouth dropped to the ground, a dead silence sweapt across the night air. He turned toward Tashigi with his mouth wide open, "Why would you say such a foolish thing? We're still on the Grand Line if you haven't forgotten!" Tears fell to the wooden floor of the ship as Tashigi looked Smoker directly in the eyes, "I need to find them..."
Bending over to pick up his fallen cigars, Smoker let out a small laugh, "Tashigi...What do you think we're doing right now? We'll find Straw Hat and his crew and have them brought to justice."
"Sir...I need to find them...Myself." She spoke, wiping her eyes from under her glasses. "Don't be foolish, as much as I trust your skills as a swordswoman, you'd be no match for that crew." Smoker gruffly grunted. "I'm don't want to fight them..." Tashigi whispered, so that Smoker and her would be the only ones to hear. "...I want to help them...I want them to help me."
The cigars Smoker had just picked up were now crushed in a tight grasp within his right hand. His eyes were nearly bulging out of his skull, he was in incredible shock of Tashigi's confession. "What...What are you talking about!? Have you gone insane? You're a Marine, they're a band of pirates! How could they possibly help you!?"
"You honor that rubber boy...Straw Hat Luffy...I heard about you denying that you defeated Crocodile. Now, I feel that I must learn to honor them as well, before I can truly think about accomplishing my dreams. After all...Isn't knowing the enemy an important role in combat?" Tashigi finished wiping the tears from her eyes, and began cleaning her glasses.
"There is something different about that boy and his crew...They're certainly not typical pirates...But even if you do want to aid them and learn about them, how do you know they'll allow you to join them?" Smoker shouted at her, making it obvious to the rest of the Marines on the ship that something was going on.
"Smoker-sama...Please keep your voice down...I don't know that they'll let me join then, I actually highly doubt that they will. But, that doesn't mean I won't try. I must learn more about him, especially..." Her face twitched as she spoke of him.
"Him?...Oh, you mean the Bounty Hunter...Roronoa Zoro." Smoker watched as Tashigi cringed at the mention of the name.
"Yes...Him."
Smoker let out an exasperated sigh, "You do understand that if you do this you'll no longer be a Marine? That means if I'm to find the Straw Hat crew, I would have to consider you my enemy as well."
Smiling slightly she nodded, "I understand...But, maybe one day our path's will cross and we'll be able to join eachother once more."
"You Katana-freak...You've always been such a dreamer...That's why I always enjoyed having you as my Sergeant Major." Smoker slowly pointed to the bow of the ship, "There's a small boat there...It's normally used to explore uncharted territory before we send a fleet in...It's stocked with enough provisions to last you a month."
"You mean...?" Her eyes began glowing brightly with joy. "This is still the Grand Line...I doubt you'll even make it a month in a boat like that. But I don't plan on stopping you from your rediculous dreams...You...Katana-freak."
"Captain..." She said softly, her voice carried by the wind.
"As a last order from your Captain, you are to make it to their ship unharmed. Once you reach their ship, you will no longer be considered a Marine...Is that understood Sergeant Major Tashigi?"
"Yes Sir...Captain Smoker." Standing all and proud, with the Ryouwaza Mono, Kashuu at her side, Tashigi saluted her Captain for what would most likely be the last time.
Saluting Tashigi back, Smoker smiled at her, knowing that she would stop at nothing to follow what she set out to do. After a brief moment of saluting he went at ease, and shuffled into the Captain's quarters.
Tashigi gathered her belongings from her quarters and loaded them onto the small boat, a group of Marines lowering her down to sea. Little did the Marine's know of her true intentions though, as they were told she was going for a short scouting mission...
With no navigational or real sailing skills whatsoever, Tashigi was basically left to drift at sea, she was now under the ruling of the vicious Grand Line...
-2 weeks later-
Having used up most of the provisions rather quickly, Tashigi was short on food and water. She wouldn't be able to last more than a few days with what she had left. The situation wasn't helped at the fact that she had been stranded on the Calm Belt for the past week. She could see waves from where she was at, but they never reached her ship.
When she had begun to lose hope of ever seeing a single ship again though, a small ship...With a pirate flag appeared in the distance. The skull and crossbones painted on the sail had...A straw hat...
"Final orders completed Captain Smoker..." She happily whispered to herself. "Roronoa Zoro...I will find out what your true intentions are...And, I will defeat you and one day confiscate the Wadou Ichimonji!"
Babbling to herself she didn't realize that the Straw Hat crew was already passing her by. She quickly jumped up and began shouting, "HELP ME!"
Pulling out a paddle she pushed forth, escaping the Calm Belt as quickly as she could, rushing forward to her goal...While still screaming her lungs out for help.
