A Journey On Wings Part Five

Faid walked slowly down the city streets, letting his feet take him where they willed. He watched his feet as he walked, not caring where he was. Rain soaked hair plastered itself to his face; his clothes weren't much better. Faid didn't care though. Reality meant nothing right now. I don't understand. If that letter was true…His mind tried to close the subject again, but this time his heart willed him on. If the letter was true and I am Windmaster, what should I do next? How do I know if it's true or not? Little did he know the answer to his thoughts was rounding the corner. Faid lifted his head when he heard a snicker. Three men in gang clothes stood eyeing him. On of them approached him, backing Faid into a dead end alley.
"Hey, brother! Would you happen ta' have any money on ya'?" Faid eyed him sullenly. "Nobody gives me that look and gets away with it!" Hissed the man. He grabbed Faid by the collar and lifted him off the ground.
"Now you answer my question." He said as he pulled a knife out of his pocket. A strange sensation rose in Faid's heart. Something he'd never felt before. Fight. It was telling him. Here's the answer you were looking for.
"Let go of me." He whispered angrily.
"Huh? You talkin' ta' me?" Answered the man.
"I said let go of me!"
"Ooo, he's a toughie! Okay, I'll let go of ya'." The man threw Faid onto the ground several feet away.
"Are you ready to fight?" Faid looked up to the man. He rose carefully to his feet, his body turned slightly sideways.
"Don't do this." A not of pleading could be heard in Faid's voice. "I don't want to hurt you."
"Hurt me?! I'm not the one who's gonna get hurt!" The man's knife flashed as he started to run towards Faid. Here goes. Thought Faid. He stretched his hand out towards the man. An odd sensation engulfed him as he felt the wind rush past his body towards the robber. It hit the man with such force he flew backwards into the street. Faid opened his eyes. It's true. He thought. But then again, haven't I known all along that it was? He sighed and dropped his hand. The other two men were staring at Faid in horror.
"He…he's some kind of monster!" exclaimed on as they back away and then out into the street. Faid felt his will to fight die down. He looked at his hand. Ambulance sirens could be heard coming towards the scene. Can't stay here. I'm too dangerous; I don't how to control myself. For a moment fear seized him. Fear at what he could do; fear at what he might do. If that letter is true those…things will come after me. I can't stay here for long. He thought. A voice broke through his thoughts.
"Ya, ya, that's him!" One of the robbers was saying to a policeman. The officer started to walk towards Faid. "Young man, what happened here?" Panic rose inside of Faid. No, I can't tell him, I have to run! The panic was replaced by the odd sensation he had just before the robber attacked him. Alright. I give, do what you want. He told his heart. He sighed and let his shoulders slump a little. No one could have been more surprised at what happened next. A ray of light appeared behind him and faded to reveal two beautiful angels' wings. Faid opened his eyes and glared at the officer. His eyes glowed in silver brilliance. He turned one last look at the robbers and than tipped his head skyward and flew off the in a blur of speed towards the clouds above.

"Jason, do you think he's ok?" Jason turned around and looked at Aunt May. "Something tells me he can take care of himself, but I'll wait here in case he comes back while you're gone." They stood in Faid's room looking out the open window. Aunt May had originally called Jason to see if Faid was there, but then she had remembered her dentist appointment. Now he was offering to stay here in case Faid came back.
"Alright then. I'll be back in about and hour." She said reluctantly as she turned towards the door. Jason listened to her start the car up and drive down the driveway. He relaxed a little bit after she left and took a seat at Faid's desk to wait. A little over twenty minutes later he heard a noise below the window. The rustling grew and a head popped up over the windowsill. Faid climbed all the way into the bedroom and shut the window. A soon as he turned around Jason barraged him with questions.
"Where have you been? How did you get all wet? What do you think you were doing? And what is that?" He said picked a snow white feather from Faid's hair.
"Oh, that." Faid looked down at his feet. Should I tell him? His mind was asking him. No, it will only put him in unnecessary danger.
"Uh hmm!" Both boys turned around to see Aunt May standing in the doorway.
"I thought you had a dentist appointment!" Questioned a shocked Jason. That was a little to close for comfort. Thought Faid. "I thought that Faid would probably check to see if the car was gone before he came back in, so I parked it around the block and watched the garage through the window. Faid's face blanched. Aunt May turned to him.
"I was right wasn't I Faid."
"I can explain." He stammered.
"Faid?" Jason looked at him questioningly.
"Jason, I need to talk to Aunt May. Alone. Could I have some time with her?" Faid looked pleadingly at Jason.
"Sure. I'll call later to see how you're doing." Faid looked relieved. "Thanks a lot. You do that." Jason waved good bye as he walked out of the room. May and Faid listened to him go down the stairs and out the door. Faid swallowed and looked at May.
"Faid, I read the letter."
