I doubt I'll print much of mine here, but since this particular poem was inspired after a mild 'downer' after finishing Full Metal Panic! volume 1 and Samurai Deeper Kyo, volume 5 (mangas), I figured it'd make sense to post it here.
MUSING ON FANTASY
When fantasy is so much more ideal than reality
I know only that something is wrong.
This world that interacts so bitterly
Just cannot be all that there can be,
Nor that it should be--my heart tells me so.
The perfect world may not be a world of fantasy,
But strangely, the world of fantasy seems a perfect world to me.
Not that there is no conflict in a fantasy world--
But simply that the lines are often so clearly drawn,
Not like reality, where the lines run through each sinner in his wrong.
Good is good and bad is bad, and there is no admixture,
No adulterate human brand. There are things worth
Fighting for, and on that, all agree.
There is no fear of death, no fear of what's on the other side--
All this is left unsaid, where people go when they die.
Perhaps this cadence of simplistic life is what would have been,
If only Eve but not Adam had sinned.
Perhaps there would be a much different war then--
Not God against man and Satan, but Adam and God
Against Satan and Eve. Still on a flinty road man would trod
But at least the lines would be clearly drawn.
