Shonen Jump magazine is going to adding 2 new serialized manga, Gin Tama, and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. I don't care about Yu-Gi-Oh! that much, but Gin Tama seems to have an interesting storyline. Just wanted to tell a few people about this who are interested. :thumb:

i wish they'd take yugioh GX out of sj and put in another manga that's better. i don't know much about gin tama unfortunately but i read the first chapter and it was...unusual. anyways, my subscription for sj is ending next month and i probably won't renew it.

Gintama seems cool. I do think they should remove Yu-Gi-Oh! from their magazine, because not a whole lot of people, except for lil' uns it seems, like Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Incorrect, especially among the Japanese.

It wasn't meant for kids at first, and if the dub would've been uncut like the 4Kids VA's wanted, it wouldn't be labeled as a kid show in the USA either.

YGO is one of my all-time favorite anime and manga.

Am I the only one who knows about the potential pun of the phrase 'Gin tama'?

Gin Tama looks cool... Yugioh GX not as much... It's not even by Kazuki Takahashi.

I was aware of Gin Tama, but not about GX. Perhaps I just don't read very carefully or subconsciously skim those words. Are they at least going to wait until the initial series is over before adding GX?

Personally, I was unimpressed with the premiere of Gin Tama. Perhaps the series improves later on, but I have heard opinions to the contrary. Or, more accurately, I've heard others say that it stays fairly much the same.

No, because SJ actually mentioned it when they introduced the manga. I'm sure the manga-ka found it very, very funny at the time.

According to what I read, Takahashi did indeed write the manga that Shonen Jump will run.

That depends on whether you mean how it could be said wrong in Japanese, or something else. If it's the former then yes, I know. On the first Anime episode of Gintama, the correct pronunciation was stressed to avoid this.

He certainly didn't draw it though- I can't remember the artist's name...

My Shonen Jump arrived today, but I won't have time to read it with thanksgiving chaos going on, so I can't comment on either new title. Both are in the issue, though. However, I think it is very likely that my opinions after reading will be much the same as my predictions: Gin Tama will be the same as before without much appeal to me and (forgive me Yu-Gi-Oh fans) I have very low expectations for GX and suspect I'll find it juvenile.

these are the very reasons why i'm probably not gonna continue my subscription for SJ after january ends...

I don't really like the drawing style or plot of "Gin Tama" (no offense to fans), and since reading the beginning of GX, it doesn't seem all that...thrilling. Too much dueling, if you ask me. So I guess my love of SJ is slowly being chiseled away by the addition of the two series I kinda wanted to see the least of.

*~ As a side note, I personally think "D-Gray Man" might of had a chance with me. ~*

Gin Tama looks like one manga that maybe on my bookshelf when it comes out. It looks pretty cool from what I have read of it so far. Yu-Gi-Oh GX should be taken out and replaced with Prince of Tennis or Whistle.
