- the SHOUJO version of Escaflowne!

Info on it is here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=2382

And note this comment from there: "There are two different manga versions of Escaflowne. The first is an 8 volume shounen version by Katsu Aki which focuses more on action and fanservice and the second is a two volume shoujo version by Yashiro Yuzuru which focuses more on characters and romance. The English manga from Tokyopop is the shounen version."

It's only 2 volumes long, but I SO want it! I remember my friend telling me years ago about 2 different versions, because all I knew at the time was the Tokyopop Shounen Version, which was definately fanservicey etc from what I've heard :/ Tokyopop should pick up the Shoujo Version too methinks!

Oooh, yeah, that looks cool! I really like how the art looks...Very shoujo-y! :D Off-topic, I really don't like the new look ANN has acquired...Too red, not soft on the eyes like the blue version was...@_@ But yeah, the shoujo Escaflowne does look good! Especially since it's only two volumes! :thumb:

From my understanding, the shoujo Escaflowne is fair, but most say that people are better off watching the anime and don't read the manga.

The mangas came after the anime and they wanted to make one for males and one for females.

One thing to note about. The glasses like geek Hitomi that was in the manga that you see that made it over here, was the character design that they were going to use in the anime as how Hitomi was going to look and act. But they change their mind and made her the athletic hero girl in the anime.

When started to work on the manga, they took the character design that the anime was first going to use.

So, that is why Hitomi doesn't like anything like that in the manga.

I'm not sure if they went that same character design for the shoujo Escaflowne manga or not.
