Here's the normal barrage of questions for Battle Angel Alita.

1. It it a good read?

2. Is there any "funny stuff" (upon that lower plain called 'fanservice' and 'porn')?

3. Is there any funny relgious philosophies and the usual sick stuff?

4. Any complaints?

Thank you. I'm enquiring because I'd like to find out about the series because there's a live-action movie in the pipes.

I have read about two volumes of it. There was a little bit of fanservice...In one of the volumes there is this murderer and you see some snapshots of prostitutes he has killed..It was pretty detialed. That was about the only reason why I didn't like it and haven't read any more. Aside from that there was almost none at all (besides the cover of one of them.) I don't recall there being much religious junk...But there probably is. It was a good read though. A warning though...It has some very violent parts and also some pretty disturbing scenes.

I really need to write a review on this.
i have read books 1-6 extensively.

1. I thought it was excellent. I reread it often. Huge complicated story and detailed drawings.

2. Very little fanservice... no porn. Alita appears all robotic and mostly undetailed in the scenes when she is being repaired/rebuilt/destroyed, since she always has a fighting body. A few evil female charachters throw out innuendos and dress in a showy manner. The prostitute is in one scene and appears to be... cold. book three a charachter dresses a little skimpy. Minor male nudity, one short scene. Book 4 2 frames FS not that detailed. book 5 one charachter dresses a bit showy. Book 6 has 0 fanservice.

3. Mostly philosophy and pondering on the nature of the differences between man and machine. Nothing religeous really. A bible verse is used once, in a somewhat appropriate situation actually.

4. Not my complaint, but this is a VERY gory series... very detailed in it's damage showing. Lots of fatal battles, and heads being destroyed. Gore blood and mayhem, most of it inflicted in martial arts style moves. I already stated my opinion on the movie elsewhere.

I can swallow gore but nudity and funny philosophies bother me. I'm still not sure whether i'll buy but I'm considering it. Thank you for all your comments.
