Anyone else love sountrack music?

I went through my iTunes playlist the other and discovered that over 3/4 of the songs contained within were either of the soundtrack or anime genre. I thought it was rather funny and awesome as soundtrack music is perfect for studying and/or writing and/or reading. So I was wondering who else has a love for soundtrack and/or anime based songs?

Well I do love soundtracks but I don't actually think I own any. Usually, if I wanna hear the music, I'll watch the movie :P

What are your favorites?

I think for me, some would have to be:

Hero (the Jet Li movie.. So relaxing...)
Braveheart
Gladiator
Jurassic Park
LOTR Trilogy
Titanic
Tron: Legacy

Quite a few, though I'm not expanding my library much anymore. However, I prefer the interesting ones to the standard symphonic bombast.

The vast majority of my music collection albums are soundtracks. My favourites include but are not limited to these:

• The Good the Bad and the Ugly - Ennio Morricone [sample]
• Jurassic Park - John Williams [sample]
• Fargo / Barton Fink - Carter Burwell [sample]
• Tron: Legacy - Daft Punk [sample]
• 1492: Conquest of Paradise - Vangelis [sample]
• Fitzcarraldo - Popul Vuh [sample] (this music video is not directly connected to the movie, so don't ask me what is happening in it, other than the images)
• Voices of Light - Music for The Passion of Joan of Arc - Richard Einhorn
• Blade Runner - Vengelis [sample] (visuals not from actual movie - mostly)

Try a few! You might like what you find!

Oh, I've got a bunch, including...

*Waterworld
*Children of Dune
*Batman Beyond
*Bram Stoker's Dracula
*POTC
*Titus
*some Dreamworks stuff
*bunch of Disney stuff
*bunch of musicals
*Giant Robo
*Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura stuff

In a similar vein, is anyone into movie trailer or trailer-themed music? Such as Immediate Music, E.S. Posthumus and X-Ray Dog.

ARIA
Princess Tutu
The Dark Knight
and many, many musicals. I like stuff I can sing along to. I think Chicago is my top one at the moment.

hm...
I don't seem to have any movie soundtracks, though my whoever I'm rooming with tends to play them for ambiance (e.g. Tron Legacy and StarWars)
I am listening to alot more anime music as I find it. Yeah Grooveshark! (I have bought a few songs, though, because I like them so much. Incidentally, (off topic) anyone know where I can find Apocrypha by eufonius (non-cd)?)
Oh yeah, one soundtrack I do listen to is from the dot Hack // GU movie (which is anime, lol).

@armeck - are you referring to Daft Punk's or the first Tron movie OST?

Many soundtracks to movies kind of run together in my head for some reason, but I don't think I've heard one yet that's been intolerable. Of course, there's the really memorable ones that people have mentioned already like Jurassic Park or LOTR. The only one I actually own is the first Narnia soundtrack that was gifted to me a few years ago. I listen to it every once in awhile.

standard symphonic bombast

I really like this phrase and hope to use it at some point in future conversation. XD

Whoa, some of you have some nice titles! My father started getting us into being big fans of movie soundtracks. I'll post some of our 30 - 40 CDs once I get back later tonight.

Soo, love "The Avengers" TV series. Plus, the love both the original & new version of Mission Impossible music.

Prince of Egypt
Wolf
The Thing from Another World (the classic one)
The Mask
Batman
2 John Williams Compilation Soundtrack albums
Little Women

One of my favorite song, "Try to Believe", was actually was used in at the end title credits of "Midnight Run". Also, the "Amazing Grace" recorded for "Maverick" was my Dad's favorite version of that song.

I am probably the only person in the world who didn't mind the Avengers movie -- I liked the plot and I loved Sean Connery as the villain (and Jim Broadbent was a very good Mother). The major problem was that Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman completely lacked the chemistry of Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg. "We're needed, Mrs. Peel." To be honest, Linda Thorson didn't really have that level of chemistry either, but she was certainly better than Uma.

Still, Mission: Impossible remains my favourite TV show, even though I do adore The Avengers.

I definitely collect soundtracks! :thumb: Sometimes even of movies I've never seen, lol. I generally gravitate towards the very big and the very small - huge epic pieces like "Duel of the Fates" or simple tunes, like the one in "A Small Measure of Peace". The bottom line for me in a soundtrack is recognizable tunes that recur throughout the soundtrack. Here are some (okay, a lot) of my favorites:

Movie Soundtracks
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Howard Shore) - "The Breaking of the Fellowship"
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Howard Shore) - "Evenstar"
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Howard Shore - this song sung by Annie Lennox) - "Into the West"
Star Wars (John Williams) - "Duel of the Fates"
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (John Williams) - "Double Trouble"
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Alexandre Desplat) - "Snape to Malfoy Manor"
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Harry Gregson-Williams) - "A Narnian Lullaby"
The Chronicles of Narnia (BBC) - theme song
Treasure Island (The Chieftains) - beginning and ending
The Last Samurai (Hans Zimmer) - "A Small Measure of Peace"
Pride and Prejudice (Dario Marianelli) - "Your Hands Are Cold"
The Village (James Newton Howard) - "The Vote"

Video Game Soundtracks (because we might as well at this point)
Final Fantasy X (Nobuo Uematsu) - "To Zanarkand"
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Koji Kondo) - "Gerudo Valley" *with difficulty, refrains from posting half of the soundtrack to this game*
ICO (Michiru Oshima - this song sung by Steven Geraghty) - "You Were There"
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Stuart Chatwood) - first battle music
Chrono Trigger (Yasunori Mitsuda) - "Green Memories"
Xenogears (Yasunori Mitsuda) - "Lost...Broken Shards"
Professor Layton (Tomohito Nishiura) - "Professor Layton's Theme"
Myst IV: Revelation (Jack Wall) - "Main Theme"

Anime Soundtracks
FMA (Michiru Oshima) - "Brothers" instrumental
FMA: Brotherhood (Akira Senju) - "Lapis Philosophorum"
Lovely Complex (Hironosuke Sato) - "World's End"
Haibane Renmei (Ko Otani) - "Ailes Grises"
Tsubasa Chronicle (Yuki Kajiura) - "Morning Moon"
Gunslinger Girl (Toshihiko Sahashi) - "Tema II"

I...think I better stop :red:
