The only criteria I have is that they don't talk about drugs, murder (if possible), sex, and have profanity. I got to make sure I abide by these criteria because my parents told me what they don't want to hear from my music preference. thxs.

You should definitely check out the Pillows and Fujifabric, two j-rock bands that make me cry awesome. I doubt they're explicit, their lyrics are just...bizarre sometimes. Or maybe it's just the way they're translated? But yeah, no sex, violence or profanity involved. The Pillows have been around since forever, so it's easy to find their stuff on some stream websites like last.fm. Fujifabric is still relatively unknown, but you could definitely find some music videos on youtube. I recommend Passion Fruit and Taifu. :3

Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I haven't honestly checked the lyrics but from what I know they are pretty clean.

The Polysics. Just plain weird but fun stuff.

The B's. Like the Pillows, have been around forever and are pretty good.

Aural Vampire. I think the lyrics are kinda iffy, but the sound is totally rad.

Oreskaband is pretty fun. They're an all girls ska band from Japan. They get super bonus points from me because they have a song called "Monkey Man"
