I've been listening to mewithoutYou almost non-stop for the last week. This album can't get here fast enough.

I LOVE Every Blade of Grass (God, God, God), even if Aaron is getting a little pluralistic and using Allah to say God, but he did that in Catch For Us the Foxes and Brother, Sister, too, it's just more apparent here.

Yeah, except in those two he was singing in arabic...Maybe he's just enamored with that...

I don't know. I've been noticing it too, and I really don't enjoy it. There is always the possibility he's pulling a Cat Stevens, too.

When I saw them live right before the release of Brother, Sister, it didn't seem like that at all...But maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I don't think so. I listened to a fairly recent interview where he was talking about the gospel a LOT instead of using vague but pretty sounding language to talk about his faith. I think his use of "Allah" in some cases is just a nod to his mom who is Sufi. I think it's kind of out of respect for her. I'm sure it's a shock when you have a Sufi-Muslim mom, a Jewish father, and your sons turn out to be Christians.

Wow, talk about a strange family background.

I've been listening to some of the new songs that are on youtube, and I really love them all. Every Blade of Grass/God, God, God really strikes me, so I've been trying to figure out the lyrics as best as I can. Here's what I've got so far:

I saw 'um right before they released Brother, Sister and ate a potluck with them before the show. It was rad. The bass player (who's name I can't remember at the moment) was one of the nicest guys I've ever met.

More lyrics, this time it is The Beetle King on the Coconut Estate:



As the hour grew late,

The day held by the coconut estate.

The Beetle King summoned his men from the top of a rudimentary stone.

Without hesitation; without looking back home,

the king flew head long into the blazing unknown.

That's why I'd consider Aaron Weiss to be one of the best lyricists ever.
