CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Here are the bands/singers I listen too. I was wondering if anyone could recommend good music to me (based on those below)?
My tastes are fairly varied (heavy to pop (but only good pop) lol - I also enjoy some good jazz/swing (not the angsty modern crap).

i also recommend guardian, red, disciple, pillar, F.O.G., need to breath, sanctus real, day of fire, seventh day slumber, delirious, kevin max

most of these should be either on purevolume or myspace

i see that you like led zepplin, F.O.G. is very good in the vein of classic rock, but they are a contemporary band

i didn't know hoi polloi was still around, my gosh, i remember seeing them one time when they opened for dc talk, man that takes me back...

I don't think Hoi Polloi are still around, but I enjoy them (they were the first cd I got back in the day - early 90s).

I would suggest checking out Ken Andrews' new album, 'Secrets of the Lost Satellite'. You can hear demos of his stuff on iTunes if you have it, but his myspace recently got updated with entries from some remix contest he hosted, so the only actual album song you can hear is 'Secret Things.' But his album is relatively clean, and it's good sort of pop-ish rock. Definitely worth checking out, but you MAY have to order it online.

Also, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead is pretty good. Their new album is pretty clean, although their older stuff isn't as clean. You can listen to some of their songs here:

They play sort of, experimental rock. It's really good stuff, and you can get really caught up in listening to it.

if i recall correctly, i believe hoi polloi did some work with a singer named steve taylor, he actually helped write the lyrics to a lot of newsboys songs as well as guardian songs, you may want to check him out as well, mithrandir can tell you more about him than i can

I second needtobreathe and red! they are both awesome.

Johnny Cash.

I really like Johnny Cash. Don't say "But I don't like country music." I don't like country music either. Cash transcends country music.

You like Collide too now eh? I knew I would get somebody as a fan in that very old Evanescence thread. After a long hard listen to Origin and the original two EPs I've concluded Evanescence almost seemlessly fused together Metal, Gothic Rock, Industrial, and Jazz music, which, if forced into a classification on the whole, it would be Gothic Metal. From the time of the album Fallen on, however, such elements are generally pushed back to intros and exits for a more pure Metal sound. Since Gothic and Industrial music of one kind or another is my specialty, judging by your tastes I would recommend:

Steve Taylor also heavily influenced the Newsboys, too. I've listened to basically everything he's ever released in the US, and here's how I'd boil it down:

The man is a lyrical geniuos, as well as a very talented musician.

Despite headlining his bands, it's not a one-man show - so there's pleanty of fullness to the sound. I think he originally toured as "Steve Taylor and Some Band."

Steve Taylor loves to challange mainstream "we always have" theology, with a flair for the dramatic, if somewhat cynical at times.

Anyway, he's one of my favorite artists, so I would recommend him.

Oh, and for the record: I own a dozen or so albumbs by artists off your list.

I'm already familiar with Underoath, Emery, Plumb, Anberlin and Audio Adrenaline.

Oh mate, I love Eisley! I only bought the cd (Room Noises) on Friday and I've listened to the cd 14 times now! (I've never done that before, not even with P.O.D, Jars of Clay or Evanescence etc.)

Eisley's one of my favorites, too; definitely keep a look out for Combinations, because I've done the same thing with that CD as you did with Room Noises. XD It's very good. XD

Also, I'm going to suggest Five Iron Frenzy. I don't have any links to their music at hand, but I guess you can PM me if you'd like to sample a song or three, just to see what their music is like. They are a ska band, but I started listening to them thinking that I didn't like ska very much, and they're now one of my favorite bands. XD I'd highly suggest them, though.

I definitely second Five Iron Frenzy. They are an amazing band, the songs range from absurd and silly to touching and profound.

You might also like Falling Up and A Dream Too Late.

Yes, Five Iron Frenzy is pretty good and I'm going to get Eisley's 'Combinations' tomorrow. I've heard it all on myspace though. Very good but I prefer their first complete cd.
