Hey I was wondering if there were any Ska fans here. If so, who do you listen to? I've been really looking for some ska bans that's music is really high-energy and lots and lots of horns. Know any good ones other than Five Iron Frenzy, OC Supertones and the Insyderz?
I was looking for some on Amazon and I came across Catch 22. Their music is exactly the kind of fast-paced horn-centered music I'm looking for. But they're secular so needless to say their lyrics aren't...

Five Iron Frenzy owns all. The only time I hear them is on RadioY, but I'm planning to get all of their CDs this summer.

Ska is music that gets its roots from rock and reggae. It is bouncy and fun and usually in modern ska has trumpets and horns accompanying some form of rock or punk.

Yeah, ska rocks!
It's a ska ska ska ska world! I gotta dance when I hear that beat! (Starts singing Ska Ska Ska Ska World by Bunch of Believers. A rare find nowadays.)
Five Iron Frenzy, The O.C. Supertones, and Insyderz are definately some of my favorites. Less Than Jake is really good, though not always clean. Goldfinger and Reel Big Fish are also well-known, though not very clean either.

Most of the Ska I've listened to is at concerts by local bands, which are super punk. One of the guys from my church played in one, so I usually went to support him, although the environment was a little scary sometimes O.O! But a lot of the music was really cool, unless they were cussing. That didn't happen too often, I missed the one concert where the most notably profane song was performed. Thank goodness. And scream-o Ska just gets on my nerves. But I like good Ska a lot.

So, exluding Five Iron Frenzy, OC Supertones, and the Insyderz. What ska bands would you recommend that doesn't have explicit lyrics? There's a lot of types of ska. Mainly I'm looking for one that has a majority of horns in it and is very, very fast-paced. If you can think of any other types of music other than ska that might fall under this catagory or some bands for them, I'd appreciate it. I'd really like to find some more bands that play the kind of music I like but I'm having a bit of a hard time finding them.

The Aquabats. The Aquabats are great. Um, they're Mormons but there is ZERO religious content in their music. It's all silly stuff. If you can find it, get the song "Super Rad".

Well, Five Iron Frenzy is my personal favorite as well, but you might also try the W's, although not all of their songs are particularly fast-paced. I would also recommend Buck's self-titled CD and "Crackerjack" by One Eighty. Buck later changed their name to Buck Enterprises and moved away from the ska sound; One Eighty changed their name to Flight One Eighty but without changing their sound very much. "Crackerjack" happens to be my favorite CD by them, however.
The Skadaddles are another group you might look into, although their music isn't nearly as good as Five Iron Frenzy or the Supertones. I have found their CDs to be good enough that I can get some enjoyment out of them, even though the quality of the music is not exactly incredible.
Also, all of the groups that I have mentioned here are Christian bands, so their lyrics are clean.
