anyone know of some good christian hard rock/metal bands?

For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

That'd be more contemporary stuff like Skillet, 12 Stones, and Day of Fire. If that's the kind of sound you're looking for, you might really like like Day of Fire. I've heard from people that like that kind of music that it's really good.

I don't think the whole post-hardcore thing is what you're looking for, even though people keep recommending Project 86 and Blindside. ^^;

I'd try Skillet, 12 Stones, and Day of Fire and see what else you can find that's like that.

Oh, and with all the Slechtvalk talk....they are really good. The intro to In Paradisium on their MySpace reminds me of a song from the Rurouni Kenshin OVA. XD; That whole song is gorgeous.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

FINALLY someone mentions Kutless! :jump: I also highly recommend them. And maybe The Beautiful Letdown by Switchfoot. There's this band out called Day of Fire. I'm not too familiar with them, but they may be the sound you're looking for.

Also a good but hard to find band that it sounds like you'd like is one called "Lucerin Blue." And you might want to check out Stavesacre and Embodyment as well.

Embodyment actually used to play death metal  (on two cds): 1993-1996 and Embrace the Eternal.

Yeah I know that...I was suggesting to him "Learn To Breath" and the next one...I forgot what it's name was. They did play some good metal though...

^^^

Yeah, 12 Stones is great, as is Day of Fire.

I listen to them and Flyleaf (a little something different), as well as Blindside.

Oh yeah, Underoath is one of the BEST bands ever, in my opinion. I have all of their CD's now and they are all awsome.

I, myself would suggest either Creed, or Nickleback. Nickleback ain't an absolute christian band, yet, some of their lyrics show Christian principles. Creed is a rock band in general that plays Christian Rock, even though some songs aren't exactly based on christianity. You can't expect all thier songs to be about christianity. I think you should just pray about it and God will show you. ROCK ON FOR JESUS!!!!!!   I'm also a rocker....ROCK ON!!! :thumb:  HEADBANGERS UNITE! :bang:
:jump:  Never give up!

Yeah, Creed is great too, but some of the songs seemed a little non Christian. If anything, get their oldest CD, My Own Prison. That CD is wonderful and seems to center more on their faith.

Nickelback?

That's funny. Just don't listen to "Feelin' Way Too D*** Good", "Figured You Out", or "This Is How You Remind Me".

Their music is boring and repetitive. They sound like a generic post-grunge band with slightly better lyrics.

What about some non-christian metal/blues rock/hard rock bands that are appropriate.

What are you guys using as a standard to classify a band as Christian or non-Christian?
Just curious.

Christian = Whether or not they have Christ-centered lyrics

Not Christian= Same as above. And i would have to put 12 stones in this catogory because there cd potters field is a step away from there original cd. They lost members who are Christian and in there thank yous on pottersfeild they swear other the frontman

Yea 12 Stones lyrics are very positive compared to basically any band in that genera (Sp?) But i think they are trying to break from the mold of a "christian band"

Underoath is great.. Their newest CD, Define the Great Line is awesome.. Also check out "The Showdown" as people suggested, and Haste The Day..
