The Guy From Stryper goes to my church......

There has been this guy at my church who would often come to my church.

I grew to sort of know him.

It wasn't until Christmas Eve when he sang a worship service at our church did I realize he was previously from Stryper.

Turns out Micheal Sweet has been going to my church this entire time.

And his random absences are explained by this: He goes on tour.

Yeah, he's a solo singer now and no longer with Stryper.

The only reason I made a thread was because of how truly amazed I was. I mean, here is a guy who never receives a second glance but he was in one of the few Christian bands that received high mainstream success while half of the girls in my class would die to meet Hawk Nelson.

I think without Styper, Christian music wouldn't be recognized as much.

I wish I could have gotten to see Stryper live. I want them to throw bibles into the crowd again.

I don't see the humor, either, Grubb. I have no idea who Stryper is, but I certainly hope you're not trying to insult them, insult Christian music, or insult Tom via his personal music preferences.

I think you need to offer an explanation for your comments.

No no no. Sorry after re reading my comment i didn't mean to insult Stryper or Tom by anymeans. The laughing part was about how he just found out. I was laughing at how cool that is (if that made anysince at all) and Styper is a Christian Metal band that wore yellow tights from the hair metal era. So i always laugh at them. I don't make fun of them to much cuz i can't help but have mad respect for them for going into Taboo area in the 80's by branching the secular music by being a very blatant christian band. Also To hell with the Devil is a crazy catchy song.

Larry Norman led the way for Christian music that didn't have to be traditional, but Stryper made it more acceptable (and was the first onto MTV).

Well, then you should have read the posts before yours.

Stryper was basically the first mainstream Christian band. They were popular in the 80s and broke up in the early 90s. However, they have a reunion project that was released last year. You can hear a song from it:

Their new albums are "7 days in america" and "Rebirth"

Mostly it just clutters up the board. And when you're posting one minute after the last post, there's really no reason not to use the Edit feature. Unless you didn't know.

Stryper was cool, but there's a lot of good CCM out nowadays - I just don't like the style it's in. Of course, I don't like any variation of rap either, but it seems to be popular* these days.

ok i gues no one read my previous serious post. THEY ARE BACK!!!!!!! I saw them in their 2k3 tour and their 2k5 tour. They've still got it. Sure they're a little older, but thats what happens with time. All that matters is that they can still rock out like never before.
