I am looking for some advice on starting an online art/craft supply shop. Specifically I am looking for advice on where I can go to gain more information to help me define my initial niche. I am not looking to make any sales through this thread, I have not made any agreements with any distributors yet. I am only looking for advice. I am coming to you as a friend looking for guidance nothing more.

If you could point me to a resource that would help me gain more info on finding a specific niche with in the artist/crafter/maker sections of society, it would be greatly appreciated. Also It would be great if you could keep me in your prayers as I pursue this endevour.

Probably a site like etsy.com or redbubble.com would suit your needs if I'm understanding what it is you're wanting to do.

I am actually looking to start a dropshipping shop. One that sells supplies, not already made goods

My first recommendation would be to offer ideas first, like free patterns or something, and then show that you can get them the supplies too. The free stuff will attract people to your site, and increase your good reputation. You can then start making some of the better patterns only available for cash, or sell kits. This has worked for many other companies that I check out for the patterns.
