for those who like vocaloid. This will make you go ecstatic.

As some of you may know They had their 1st vocaloid concert stateside at AnimeExpo in Cali. I wish I had the money to go cause I so would have gone. While I haven't really gotten into the music that much lately, It's the technology behind the concerts that blows my mind.

But I digress, What I didn't know was that toyota was the one who sponsored the concert... not only that they've created a whole campaign around Hatsune Miku and the 2011 toyota corolla. All I've got to say is.... bravo toyota very bold to centering your advertisement around a niche market. I hope this venture bodes well for you.

As for Hatsune Miku, Welcome to the states.. and I must say your riding in style.

Hatsune Miku Toyota Commercial

and for more here is the page on Toyota.com Dedicated to all their Hatsune Miku/toyota Corolla videos. Note: If you wish to watch all of them I'd start with the bottom ones which are the older ones. They tend to follow a slight continuity after a while.

Sorry, not trying to be a jerk or anything, but it's the Toyota Corolla, not Carolla. The car kind of has a racer heritage even if it's just a meh sedan nowadays.

And while this is pretty cool for the whole Vocaloid thing, as far as a car company basing it's marketing off a niche segment isn't exactly all that strange. Remember when Mitsubishi made that commercial for the Eclipse back around 2001 and used Dirty Vegas' "Days Go By" in it? After that a lot of techno started popping up in car ads. Cadillac started using abstract art in their commercials and then suddenly other luxury manufacturers started using abstract art.

There is a good chance this is possibly an ad response to Honda's current Civic campaign with all the weird costumes and songs that go along with the ninjas and zombies and yetis and whatnot. I'd be surprised if we don't see a slight surge in more of this kind of stuff over the next year or so.

fixed, my bad though. didn't know ^-^;

I do hope it's an ad response as you say though. Being really into advertisment and especially into commercial's like this and the Honda commercial you mentioned, I hope honda responds back to this as well. It'd be interesting to watch how creative both companies could get with these campaigns. Also I hope this Campaign doesn't stop with the one concert at AnimeExpo.

I hope it continue into something more then just a gimmick :/ It'd be interesting to move on toyota's part to watch out for, IMO.
Though if so I think toyota might want to step it up a notch. The main commercial they have is cool and all, but with the rest of the videos on the toyota page to me, the humour is ... a bit off I guess :/.
