I like cars. Vehicles in general. What do you guys drive? Anyone had a junker as a first car?

I sure did. My first mistake was buying it from a college boy. But it was a '90 Accord and I had the cash. It's even got a moon roof. (believe it or not it didn't leak at all.) It's a little beat up, but I'm happy. I take the car home, real proud of myself. I can get a new windshield and it just needs a tune up. The stock radio is held on with electrical tape. But still, I can fix those things and I'm in no debt.

So, the next morning, my car has been sitting all night, I start it up and white smoke billows out the tail pipes. Smart me for not looking under the hood to see that the engine was just kinda drenched in its own oil. A while later I was driving home. All of a sudden the car starting shaking real bad (worse than usual), the RPMs went up and the speed went down.

So now I've made a deal with the devil (credit union) and bought a '96 Accord from the dealership on the hill.

Moral of the story, if the car looks like it's been driven again a guardrail and is full of beer bottle caps, you probably shouldn't buy it. Or offer less, since these kind of students are desperate for beer money.

My car is a 1989 Chevy Celebrity, with 391,200 miles on it. xD It's a steady old gal, and her name is Chelly. Didn't pay much for it, and it's given me a couple years and I hope it keeps going a little longer! D8

Being a racing fan, I love Chevys. But I know I need to learn a lot more about the cars I drive. XD I'm a typical girl when it comes to cars, and have to rely on someone else who knows more about them, lol.

I'm very lucky- my parents bought my car for my HS graduation, so I've had it for almost 4 years now. It was only 3 years old when we got it, and it's still in very good working order. Of course, that' not necessarily because I'm good about taking care of it! My brother takes a look at it about twice a year or whenever I think something's wrong (he's trainign to become a mechanic), and helps me figure out whether I need to take it in or he can fix whatever it is.

Back in the 70s, first car my brother (Who was 2 years younger) and myself had to drive was a 1954 Ford 4 door Mainline. Six cylinder engine and tube AM radio which you had to wait to warmup before it would play.
We added seatbelts and work on a little rust but the car had been garage kept before it was bought by our father.
We shared driving it before we bought two other used cars. 1969 Ford 2 door Fairlane with a 8 cylinder engine which was my brother's and a 1970 Dodge 2 door Swinger with a 6 cylinder which was mine.
I didn't buy a new vehilce until I got a 1978 Ford Econoline Van which was customed out by me inside with carpet and cabinets and a platform bed with storage in the back. I order Captain seats for the front ad had to put in my own radio and speakers. No air conditioning.
Then later bought a new 1986 Dodge pickup truck added a cap put storage and indoor outdoor carpet in the back.
Then later bought a 1996 Dodge extend cab pickup added a storage tool cap.
Now I have a 2006 Ford Econoline 8 passenger van which was 2 years old when I bought it.

I don't own a vehicle but when I need to, I borrow Dad's Chevy Avalanche. Besides the mileage, it's a really nice vehicle. And the sound system is amazing. XD
I have no idea what I should get when I finally do get my own vehicle. I don't feel comfortable in cars but I don't want to get something that's going to be expensive to drive. I guess I still have a few years to think about it though.

The first car I really got to drive around was an early '00s Ford Focus wagon; that lasted for about a year, and then some guy rear-ended it when my mom was driving it. I was gone somewhere at the time, so I got a nice surprise when I got back home.

My second (and current) car is a '92 Mazda Protege, which I've used for about 3 years - this thing is fun to drive. Pretty much everybody gives me a hard time about it when I say how much I love it, but they haven't driven it.

I was very fortunate to have my first (and current) car be in good shape. XD It's a 2004 Ford Escape (its name is Gandalf the White <33), and it was only about three or four years old when I got it. I've really had no problems with it thus far, since it's still got under 100,000 miles on it. Filling the tank is a little more pricey than I'd like it to be depending on the gas prices, but it's not nearly as bad as it could be. XD

I have had a few cars, all of them 80's cars.

Unfortunately my current car bombed the smog test, so it's time to get rid of it. Right now I am looking into getting a moped/scooter for my transport needs, since it is a lot more economical and I can get a decent one with the money I am getting from scrapping the gross polluter.

I'm actually sort of looking forward to life without a car.

I have a tan '98 Buick Century that I bought from my landlord. I named it Björn. (For a while I considered renaming it "Dalek Caan", but the original name had already kinda stuck in my mind.) It's no chick magnet, but then again neither am I, so I guess that's okay.

I learned to drive on the 80's full size stick shift Ford van that my family had had as long as I could remember. Driving that van was beastly but it gave me confidence that I could drive just about any other vehicle you can drive with a regular license. The other car my family had the time was an 80's Toyota Tercel, also stick shift. But both cars ended up either wrecked or broken down, so we have different cars now, all automatic. I haven't driven a stick shift in years, which makes me sad, because I actually think it's more fun.

Because I went to college 700 miles away from home, my dad decided he wanted me to have a reliable car, so my parents got a white four-cylinder 2001 Toyota Camry. Megumi has never let me down. She has faithfully carried me tens of thousands of miles without breaking down once. But obviously I couldn't take my car to Japan with me, so right now my parents (and sometimes my brother and his family) are using it.

I learnt to drive in my parents' 1987 Subaru Leone sedan manual and 1996 Mitsubishi Magna wagon automatic. I used the Magna at first just to get the feel of driving on public roads, then learnt from then in the manual Leone. The Magna was a bit nice because it was a 3L six cylinder, which is a bit rare for our family, because every car since that one has been four cylinder.

My first car was then a 1992 Subaru Liberty (or Legacy in weird parts of the world) sedan manual which had the dirtiest interior you've ever seen when I first got it. So I thoroughly cleaned it out to be above-averagely clean. It started being less reliable, so I sold it a year and a half ago.

My second car was a 2000 Subaru Liberty RX 2.5 sedan manual. It's pretty fun to drive, and it's quite sensibly designed compared with many cars I've seen (it's even the little things that make a difference). It's frustrating driving my parents' 1992 Toyota Camry sedan automatic now (the driving dynamics are quite inferior...). It had a very loud exhaust when I first got it (one of the loudest..), which hurt my ears, so I replaced it with something a bit quieter and smoother. Just recently the engine shredded the timing belt, which resulted in some very expensive valve damage repairs.... but it's back to normal now.

Okay, someone had to post a certain song and I'm surprised no one did yet. I was gonna post the original version of this song, but then I saw this. Pure awesome.

So after my Dad talked about how dangerous scooters are, causing my Mom to be worried before I even bought one, I decided to get an older car that I can work on and fix up into something I will really love.

So that's my car. There are a few things I also need to do to the interior, but those can wait. This car is going to be a really great weekend project.

I learned to drive with my mom's 1994ish Ford Escort automatic. It was kind of ugly-looking and tiny, but I still enjoyed driving it. The Escort started having break problems when I started college, so Mom stopped letting me drive it when I'd come home. It finally blew a head gasket and was sold to someone as a project car.
Mom now drives a 2010 Ford Focus. She will not let me drive it. She said, "If this car gets wrecked, I want to be the one to wreck it." Or something like that. XD

My first (and current) car is a 2007 Ford Taurus. It is silver with an automatic transmission. I bought it used (financed through a local credit union) and it only had 40,000 miles on it. In the almost 2 years that I've had it, I've had the alternator fizz out twice (the 1st replacement alternator was faulty, so the company paid for my tow to my shop and for a 2nd alternator --also, praise God for extended warranties!) This past fall, my radiator got a crack in it and had to be replaced --my friend who owns his own car shop replaced it for me free of charge.
My car now has approx. 75,000 miles on it and is driving nicely.

My parents have got a 2010 Ford Focus too. They very occasionally let me drive it. Let's say I think my car is better designed...
