History of Korea

Postby Mr. Rogers » Mon Sep 13, 2010 8:17 am

Does anyone here happen to know of any well-written books about the history of Korea? Just a general overview would be fine. I would like something that also works its way up to more recent times. If there is anything that covers a broad spectrum, and not just politics and military history, that would be best.

I don't know if anyone has ever read Japan: Its History and Culture by Scott Morton, but I am looking for something that takes that sort of approach.

Wiki would actually be a pretty good resource.

I took a survey course on Korea in college, and we used Korea Old and New: A History. It goes up until about the 90s, I believe. VERY informative and not too academic.
