I guess it really depends on the GM ^^

Some GM's have an ending planned out, but those type of RP's are more strict with what happens (to assure it turns out the way the gm wants it to). Or, sometimes the GM will just write a story and see where it goes and doesn't really think of an ending ^^

I can't really think of an RP I was a part of that did actually end either.. Not even any of my own did xD;

I doubt there are many because they can go on for weeks, months, years and after so long you stop caring about the RP (Unless you are really into it, and there are good character relations [that also means you need everybody to continue]) and it can get very complicated and you may have to Retcon some previous events to actually get an ending that flows well and isn't so wide and specific.

I've never finished, I now want to (But I bet that ^^ will happen)

Last year, I GM'd a seven week RP here about the explosion of a massive nuclear reactor plant that was the essential end of the world. People were trapped inside the largest city in the world, with no way to escape, and would die when the bomb exploded in seven days. I had to be kind of strict on the timing though, so things didn't turn out quite right until the end

It had some of the most brilliant storylines, characters, and themes of any RP I've been a part of... at least until the last week, when it really really slowed down. But all of it was great. Everything was possible in the world of lawlessness, or rather, nothing was possible. Unceasing Crime, complete moral fallout in the perceived absence of God, those who still believed in God, those searching for a God... and a man dressed as Santa Claus giving bomb filled teddy bears to little children. It was a practice in Absurdity with alot of amateurish philosophical themes, but it was a lot of fun.

The problem was that I had major plans for my psychotic killer's character (And his illegitimate mute daughter) to develop... and there wasn't enough time to close it all up. It was fitting though. Everyone died suddenly in vain, and it was over. The end.

Nobody reads old RPs like I do, but here's the link anyways: http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=53503

That's a really smart Idea for RP's, just put in a 3 month or less time period, that way when it's slow you can say _____ days remaining, that way there's less of a chance it will die (As you want to fit in stuff quickly) and there's no Really long commitment, on top of that you know when approx. it will end so you can choose if you want to commit to ___ days/weeks/months.

I think if I saw a time-line/Deadline on an RP I'd consider that RP more than others.

No, but I remember Enter Galactic High lasted around 40,000-50,000 posts.

Ah... I really miss that RP XD

I managed to end Neo-Eden, an RP I did about a group of outer-space colonists who arrive on a planet and must co-exist with the aliens who already exist. It didn't even have a war!
