Scribs

Postby WaffleMan » Sat Jan 09, 2010 10:20 pm

If I recall correctly, there used to be a member of the site named Scribs. Does anybody remember/konw what happened to him? Just curious.

He was always fun to talk to, and his posts were great. No idea what what happened to him.

Methinks he may be closer then we think...perhaps around the next corner? Or, behind a curtain? Who knows where the Scribs may lurk, or if he is indeed lurking right now...But yes, I do remember Scribs, and the laughter that followed him around.

I never knew him, but I heard he was pretty cool and wasn't he the creator of Ink and Ash's Adventures ^__^?

I, like many others, have fond memories of the chap...
He does lurk occasionally.. in fact, he might have already posted in this thread....

Thanks for the responses.

BTW. It may be worth noting that my interest in the subject is merely academic. Anthropological, if you will. The question being how long does an individual remain in the group consciousness in an Internet setting such as this one.

Being aware that Scribs was at one time an active user of this site (Over 3000 posts I believe) and contributed to site culture, via his comic and status as "Bump thread historian", and also being aware that he had been almost entirely absent from the site for the past 4 years now, I believe. I thought it would be interesting to see what the shelf life of a well established reputation in an artificial community (if you will forgive the term) such as this one would be.

For the record, I do know where, how, and who Scribs is, though I doubt he would apreciate it if I disclosed his personal info without his consent.

He and I are unfortunately... not on the best of terms at the moment. His doing, I assure you.

Scribs was the man. Why did he and Photosoph and CreatureArt and all those guys and girls have to leave?

This having been clarified, I'll contribute by saying that I recall Scribs. It's akin to many of my highschool friends - I enjoyed interacting with them for a number of years, but we have gone our separate ways and have little contact. I expect to remember them well, but not to meet them unless it's at a reunion. Exceptions stand for a few connections, naturally.

My inclination is to believe that internet settings probably operate similar to other social settings. At least I find that my relationships online are similar to other acquaintance-level situations, such as clubs or work environments. There have been a lot of studies concerning online interaction with differing results that I find interesting.

I remember reading an article saying that being online and having online interactions actually do help with advancing one's communication skills ^^ Even if we aren't face to face talking, there's still a person on the other side of the monitor ^__^

I think when I joined, one late night, I saw Scribs logged in. I never have gotten to talk to him thought. He sounds cool. ^_^
