I will going to Anime Weekend Atlanta on September 18-20, 2009. I have to call the hotel to get a room in two weeks.

Other cons that I may go, but not sure yet are

MomoCon on March 14-15, 2009 at the Georgia Tech Student Center in Atlanta, GA

Kami-Con on April 25-26, 2009 at University of Alabama Ferguson Center in Tuscaloosa, AL

JAMPcon on July 10-12, 2009 at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN

I would go to Otakon, but it looks like I be going to a wedding that weekend of the con.

Me and Mine will be likely attending Anime Iowa this year. It's a smaller convention that has strived hard to achieve all of the plusses of a large convention with little of the large con hassle, outside of the occasional registration line. I worked it for many years, and this'll actually be a return for me after an absence from conventions all together. I would absolutely LOVE to meet some of my fellow forumites there.

Otakon is a maybe for me this year...however I should be at MegaCon in Febuary...but I won't really be in the con untill like sunday. You see, if all goes acording to plan, me and a suite mate should be helping out with this airsoft thing that's ocurring there.

So, if anyone is attending MegaCon they'll get a chance to shot me. Granted it won't be with a real gun but hey...you'll still get some sort of bragging rights (though not many since I'm not really that good at airsoft to begin with...).

My hotel room has been booked for months in Baltimore for Otakon.

Send me a PM if you are going and maybe we could say hello.

I want to go to AX, but I don't have the money to. Ironically enough, though, I'm going to be in LA 10 days after AX is over. o_o

Anyone else going to Katsucon over Valentine's Day weekend? My siblings and I are thinking of going for just Saturday.

Of course I'm going to Otakon, I always go there.

Oh actually, wow. Katsucon is really close to me, even closer than Otakon. But I wouldn't want to go to a con by myself, that'd be kinda lonely. :\

Same deal with Animazement (which is the closest con of all to me).

Otakon Acourse. Neko Con Acourse. Katsucon depends on the weather and my job and a one day visit . Anime USA is close on dates to Neko Con and that would be a one day visit. Then Katsucon and Anime USA are held in the same hotel just months apart.
Now I have heard that the theme for Neko Con will be Western this year so I guess to see people wearing some sort of western type items.
Lots of ideas being thrown around with the staff now for the first weekend in November.

As usual I'll be going to Otakon, as will IchiTone and Nekochan_C.

It will most likely be Otakon again. That is if I can afford to go this year.

I will be at Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh, PA... I don't have enough money to travel to any others... if I hadn't pre-registered I probably wouldn't be able to go to Tekko either, but fortunately I thought that far ahead before running out of money.

I'm going to try and go to Kumoricon in Portland, OR! I've always wanted to go, but I've never had the money. The sad thing is I have another really cool thing going on that weekend T^T So it looks like I'll have to choose! Arg..I hate choosing between two really awesome things, lol.

Although I like anime, I heard that anime convention sometimes has people wearing inappropriately, which kind of scared me off, coupled with the fact that it is usually crowded...

I will say has a attendee management services staff member at Neko Con, costumes of inappropriate manner will not be allowed at most cons because they are family oriented settings. If they are allowed it is because a body suit has to worn with the costume or it will be allowed during late hour events when children should be in bed at home or the hotel. We will not allow people to go barefoot at our event because of possible injuries.
Our con uses the Hampton Roads Convention Center for three years the forth this year and we have not filled the place up or used all of the space as yet. We think of our con has a small con because it started in a small convention hotel where we out grew it moved to another hotel with a convention center next door twice and them moved to where we are now with other hotels or motels nearby.
This is my eleventh year and I started with the second year of the con and became part of the staff at that time as a medic by accident.

Most conventions have rules against cosplay that shows too much skin, for example, if you're going to wear a thong/small bikini bottom or something, you have to have tights on. Otakon at least does their best to keep it safe for all ages.

The crowds though, oh yeah, depending on the size, it can be terrible. When I went to Animazement a few years back, it wasn't crowded at all really. But Otakon gets really bad. XD

This becomes a huge problem when you are trying to find people who are supposed to be meeting up with you...thankfully the Baltimore Convention Center has some nice large areas for people to meet up...

Worst places to be at Otakon is the overpass hallway level the third level of both buildings. The convention center had been the building built close to the Inner Harbor. The city then torn down a large exhibit hall and built an addition to the convention center which is now the main entrance. The first building is only three levels where the other is four levels and the third level is the main area and the hallway between them gets tight with con crowd.
Easiest places to travel is the outside of the convention center and come back in at a open entrance. Which might mean crossing a street between the two buildings or walking with local crowds.

Ugh I want to a con soo bad, but I checked and nothing too exciting this year...sigh. Maybe next year...And anyway, I don't know if I'd even be able too this year.

I'm also kinda scared to go? Like nervous. I get kinda shy with big crowds and stuff, but still, I want to go! I NEED TO MEET OTAKUS! I only have like 1 friend who likes anime, which stinks. In fact, most people I know are like "what's anime?! What's with the huge eyes?!" *facepalm*

But who knows, maybe I'll go this year anyway.

Thanks for the useful links,Roy!

I have a few in my State but only one of them is close to where I live while most of them a way out there.

So...Has anyone been to or heard about "Anime School House Rock"?
It seems to be a small convention but maybe it'll be good since it would be my first time going to an Anime Con and it would probably be better to start with a small one rather than a big one...Oh I don't know! >,<
I really want to cosplay!:D

Where do you live? If someone on here lives near where you live they could help you out on where the small cons are or could meet up with you to form a group or you become part of theirs'.

Just a quick question. I've never been to an anime convention, but I was planning on going to Otakon this year. Is that a good first convention to go to?
