I'm getting a new Kitty!

Hey everyone!
I'm so excited to say that I'm getting a new kitty!
In June, when I can finally leave my campus apartment, I will be adding a set of furry paws to my family!

I already own one cat, and I plan to bring her to live with me as well, you've all heard me talk about my fetching feline, Pocky.

But this cat that I am getting ready to buy, is very special.



She has five toes on both her front feet, which look like thumbs. So the vet called her "Thumbs." I am not sure I like that name, so any ideas?

She is also Blind, and is missing half an ear due to frostbite.

I was originally just looking on that site, because my roomate wanted a kitten, but I saw this cat on the side and i was just like "Woah, how special is she?!"

So I visited her today, and she just came to me. It was amazing she jumped in my lap, hid her face in my arm and even drooled. I guess that's a sign of a VERY, VERY happy cat. (I'll ask about that though haha!)

I plan on getting her in June, and I'm so stoked! You guys wanna help me rename her? Would it be a good idea? She's two years old...

I dunno, I kinda like Thumbs. But I'd be prone to calling any cat I got 'Furball', so I'm not the best judge XD

June is cute too. But I think I'm partial to Ruth, (she went though a lot and God gave her a good home too.)

If you're looking for a more creative or exotic name, how about Neko to go with Pocky? Or if you want a classy anime name how about Yuki from "The Cat Returns"?

Chiyo? Reasoning: Azumanga Daioh, people keep dreaming Chiyo's dad is a cat.

Nunnally? this cat's handicaps and bright spirit make me think of Nunally from Code Geass.

or how bout Aporo? "Apollo" is a great Japanese candy (like pocky) but Aporo makes it cuter. or how bout Ramune? (its a japanese drink)

But go with whatever comes to you and fits. I used to have two cats: one named Sassy (big black cat; we found out later it was a boy :lol:) and David (beautiful fuzzball with white paws- my sis was in kindergarten and she just wanted to call him David for no real reason ). Either way, name it something easy to say.

While Thumbs is really cute and creative, I'm just not sure I want to call it out every day! I mean it doesn't roll of the tongue XD. Although she is probably used to it... hmm I might have to leave it,

Aww thanks, Socks! X3 I can't help it, I saw her picture online and I was like how amazing is that cat?

Apparently, she's been at the refuge she lives at for a while. They found her when she was a baby and she's 2 now. :/

Snickers is a cute name, but I alwasy thought it was a doggie name haha! I knew a dog named Snickers once...

I'm such a snoop... I keep finding more and more pictures of her on the internet >_< She looks like she was a mascot of sorts for the refuge where I am getting her.

Maybe more pictures will inspire more names?



This picture is even more a reason why i think she is really special. Thumbs is the cat with the black spot, and the one on top of her head is Seino, another blind cat. These two formed a bond while at the refuge because of their commonality. It's like they just knew they both needed each other. Isn't that amazing?

I also learned that she has been adopted before...
I'm thinking of renaming her to Chancey. Becauses of all the second chances she's had at life! What do you guys think?

I think you should give her a name that matches her personality but can also compliment her looks (and maybe her blindness and "thumbs"). Is she the more active running around cat or is she more quiet sit in your lap cat? Does she have any funny quirks about her? :3

I talked to the vet today, they recommended that i keep her name that's been given her, since she's so used to it. So I decided that this will be a nickname thing!

I really am set on Chancey...

Active? I think she's a lap cat, She's actually really chunky, I plan to change that haha!

I also talked with the vet about her previous owner that adopted her from the same place last year, They kept her in a GARAGE! D8How terrible I mean it's okay for normal cats but Thumbsey isn't a normal cat! What if a car had hit her or she had gotten into something? It makes me angry that they would do that to her and her blind friend, who was also adopted out yesterday! I know she's just a cat, but still that makes me sad...

I don't know if God things can happen with pets, but I believe that they were put here to be our companions, and I really hope that Pocky and I, along with my roommate can enrich Thumbsey's (they call her that there, it's cute!) life!

I'm reading so much about caring for blind cats, and it's really interesting. So many humane societies euthanize these kind of cats, because they don't believe they are adoptable. I think that's horrible, they can be just like any other cat, they just need a little extra TLC and structure.

It's going to be fun having her I think! I visited her again today, and awwwhhh I can't wait to take her home! >^<
