Harvest Moon, anyone?

I am a Harvest Moon fan to the max. I have played it on N64, gameboy advance, and gamecube. I really enjoyed Harvest Moon64 and it is still my favorite. The girls were all unique, the challenges were fair, and since fishing is my thing, I could easily earn money. On the other hand, I have been disappointed with Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and the new Harvest Moon for Gamecube. In FMT, I got sick of playing the elves' games and it became a torture to play them every day. In the new Harvest Moon, even though the graphics are outstanding, it seems to me that they took Elli, Karen, Ann, and Maria and mixed them up to create girls with one girl's hair style, another's personality, and another's likes/dislikes. Anyway, I was hoping to get some comments on what other fans thought.

it's no big deal. I come from a gamer family and my brothers couldn't get into to it either. I suppose fighting evil sorcerers and crazy gerudos are what some people prefer.

Gamer family?? Man, I have a brother that's into games but a whole family! I'll be playing multiplayer fighting/action/adventure games with just as much fun!! :wow:
Anyway, I think harvest moon is great and it's so different from other games. I've played the N64 and PSone versions which are both very neat. But the gameboy versions disappointed me. I really want the HM for Gamecube but I don't have that system. FMT does seem disappointing even though I haven't played it; from what I see in the screenshots, it's the same exact game as BTN.

Im a huge fan of Harvest Moon. I ahve all of them except the Harvest Moons for SNES and Playstation 2. I even have all the Gameboy Games welle xcept for the GBA versiob ut I have that a ROM. Harvest moon 64 was really fun, thats what got me intot he game series. A Wonderful Life is a very fun game and much different then the previous ones which is a good.
But my favrotie has to be Back to Nature. Its a gem of a game and very fun to play. I can play this game for hours on end.

I like Harvest Moon, I played the first one for the Snes and enjoyed it then got BTN (back to nature) for the playstation and *loved* it, its by far the best HM game available, its basically an upgraded HM 64. I have played AWL (a wonderfull life) for the gamecube and was disapointed at how different it was, only three girls, forcing you to marry one by the end of the first year and the plot revolving around raising a son instead of farming.
That said, I have nothing but praise for HM BTN, it easily kills several weeks of my life and takes a long time to get repeditive or boring because your always aiming for more. Plus it has Karen and Popuri...nuff said

w00t!
HM:BN defeintly rules all. It's a very big gae. In AWL, I wish it was a bigger place with alot more to explore. In BN, you have a huge village, mountains, forest, beaches.
Though I like the characters in AWL. They are really fun, wierd, and cool

Yay! I'm not the only one to like HM 64 version. I have to say my favorite girl was Elli. She was so sweet and nice. Most guys (including my bros) fall for Karen or Ann.
I believe the poll for the girls popularity from highest to lowest was Karen, Ann, Elli/Popuri, Maria.
FMT is basically HM 64 with all the characters mixed up. Ann works at the inn/bar, Popuri works at a chicken farm, Karen works at the supermarket, Maria the same as before, and Elli is a nurse, so appropriate ^_^
and the couples are all mixed up too and so are the other characters' roles. That's basically the game. I was really disappointed.

Say what?
Aw, come on! JUST THREE?!
And why is it always a son?! I really think they should have made the baby's gender random. Come on Natsume, the point was to make it the BEST Harvest Moon ever...

The HM 64 version was good, but once you go BTN you never go back
Yes, I think Ellie has a very nice personality. In BTN I personally think it's her that was the little girl from long ago. I like all of the girls actually, each for their own individual reasons.
Has anyone ever heard of the HM for girls? It's basically the same game except you play a blonde haired girl. I would like to try that out but I think it was only released in Japan

yes, I've heard of it. It hasn't been released here yet and I'm not sure it's a great game anyway, unfortunately.
There was a version of HM released here where you could play a girl and you had a partner (a boy). It wasn't a very good game at all because you had to do all the "flirting" and if you did too much of a good job, then your game ends right there. That's what happened to me. Also, the natural resources regenerate as soon as you leave an area, so you could harvest 50 berries a day if you wanted. There's almost no need for livestock because of that.
