This thread is for all GameCube owners to discuss/suggest the best game titles out there for the Nintendo GC.
So, I'll start with my top picks:
Super Smash Bros. Melee - a classic, and IMO the best fighting game out there.
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - not only is it fun, but I love long games and the replay value is great.
Mario Kart: Double Dash - Always loved Kart. And the tracks in this game are great.
Super Mario Sunshine - Beautiful graphics, fun levels with all sorts of puzzles... although I did think Mario N64 was better.

Let us not forget: Animal Crossing. This is highly acclaimed by both reviewers and anyone who plays it. Addictive, innovative, beautiful - you name it, it has NINTENDO stamped all over it!

*looks left, looks right* I sold video games for two years and part of that was when Animal Crossing was released. I did not have one customer complain about the video game. Believe me, that speaks loads. *~_^*
However, I understand that opinions are opinions and will not toe that line further!
Oooh, even though everyone thought it was sucky I had loads of fun playing Luigi's Mansion and NHL 2003 on my GameCube.
EDIT:
And do not forget Super Monkey Ball. The party mode for 4 players was SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN! *laughs loudly in remembrance*

And yes, I really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion!

Super Smash Bro. Melee- GREAT multi-player game. ^_^ And it's not like most fighting-type games where movement is restricted. This game lets me control characters much more freely.
That Legend of Zelda Collector's disk thing with 4 games on it- Because now (or when I decide I have time), I can play games I never played when they were first released. ^_^
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker- I liked the music. Not a huge fan of the sailing, but the music was kinda fun in the towns and the opening story scene thing. =)
Super Monkey Ball 2 was fun. I only rented it, though.
Animal Crossing- worth it if only for the NES games. Balloon Fight. Nostalgia. ^_^

Super Smash Bros. Melee -- Awesome multiplayer game with tons of coolio mini games and some cool fighters. Bright, fun and endearing.
Resident Evil Series -- On Gamecube these games suprass any of the graphical prowess the series might have had. And GC seems to be the best platform for RE; I mean compare RE Outbreak with RE or RE 0.
Eternal Darkness -- I personally enjoyed this game, it had a cool storyline which was original for a game since it dealt through a family heritage, superb voice acting and nice action.

Metroid Prime It's Metroid... Need I say more?
Smash Bros Got years of replayability. I got mine in 2002 and I STILL play it regularly! Still got lots to unlock!

Oh, I did forget about Animal Crossing! That was an addictive game for me... But nowadays I pretty much only get on for the holidays or when I'm in a furniture-collecting mood. Still a worthwhile game though, as someone else said the old NES games are fun. My favorite is Tennis.
Lol, it seems that Smash Bros. is a favorite across the board! Who's your favorite fighter? I always use Shiek. ^^

I have to go with most ppl on this:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is a good game, but I still prefer Majora's Mask over it (don't hurt me lol)
Soul Calibur II as well, though Taki kinda scares me
And of course, Smash Brothers Melee...still play it, and I beat anyone who comes my way...of course that means only my small circle of family and friends lol
Kireihana wrote:Lol, it seems that Smash Bros. is a favorite across the board! Who's your favorite fighter? I always use Shiek. ^^

SSBM- like someone said, the best fighting game out there; the damage percentage system is way better than a health bar
Rogue Leader: better than the original, better than the third installment
Ocarina of Time on the Cube- i love it
Jedi Outcast - it's...ok. the swordplay sux.

I don't own a GC now but did. Here are my fav's or want to play...1. Animal Crossing - Who wouldn't want to see the mole get angry...lol.
2. Super Monkey Ball 2 - Monkey Golf is insane!! >.< Target however is very fun with friends...especially when you knock them off the 1000 point score area by dive-bombing them, LOL!
3. Smash Bros. Melee - Fox is the only character I will use besides Mewtwo. Fox rocks!
4. Pikmin - Adorable game. This is the most visualy entertaining game I have seen for GC in my opinion. That will change when Pikmin 2 comes out. Multiplayer fun!
5. Phantasy Star Online - I played literally hundreds of hours on this game when it was on Dreamcast. I could probably still play hundreds more on Ep. 2 of PSO.
6. Ikaruga - I should have gotten or rented this game. Now that I am GC'less, I can't play this nice looking title.
7. Mario Kart: Double Dash - I want to play this game badly!

Lol, she's my cousin's favorite. "Oh, did I wiiin?" XD
My brother just got Rogue Squadron 3 and it's really fun. The lack of camera control is kinda annoying, though.
Wow, that's so awesome that a Fire Emblem game is coming out! I thought about buying the GBA game, but got RotK instead. Do you know when it's being released, Link Antilles?

Some already mentioned Gamecube favorites of mine include:
Super Smash Bros. Melee(As of now severely afflicted with scratches and thus limited in playability so I'll have to get it cleaned for get a new copy.): An extremely innovative and enjoyable game with revolutionary fighting game ideas.
Metroid Prime: The first FPS that I had ever owned and played in-depth. Excellent. It also in my opinion started a sub-genre called First Person Adventure.
Rogue Leader(Rogue Squadron II): An excellent Star Wars game.
Super Mario Sunshine: Another innovative piece of enjoyability.
Mario Kart DD: I had enjoyed the other games from the Kart series so I felt I had to get this one. A fun addition to the Mario Kart series.

hehe...it's a beautiful technique, no?
Anyways, I've been looking forward to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for a few months now, and I still haven't gotten my copy
. Nobody's mentioned it on this thread so does that mean...it's not that good?
NOO!!!

Hmm, I really want to buy a new game, and it's come down to about 3 titles:
Harvest Moon: I played a PS version once and really liked it. I like long games with good replayability, so this one might be a very good pick for me.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King: This one got a lot of mixed reviews at Amazon.com so I'm not sure what to do. I heard it's very short, and I also own the GBA game which I was a little disappointed in.
Ikaruga: I really don't know anything about this game except that some of you have mentioned it. I saw it at walmart today. What's it about? Is it an RPG? I'd really like to buy a new RPG.

It really doesn't bother me, since I'm kicking butt with a princess myself (Zelda), even if she does turn into a ninja...
I think the hardest part about facing Peach is keeping a straight face as she slams people with tennis rackets, golf clubs, turnips, and squeals "Sweeet!" (not to mention whipping Toad out for a body guard)

No, Ikaruga is not an RPG. It is a scrolling shooter game, where you control a ship where the screen scrolls and you blast tons of enemy aircraft into oblivion. Ikaruga is generally considered difficult because it has a small but effective twist to it. Your ship can shift to two colors: black and white. Your enemies are also in black and white and they shoot black and white projectiles respectively. If a black projectile hits you while your ship is black, it absorbs the projectile as extra energy for ammo. If a black projectile hits you while your ship is white, you die. The same can be said with the colors reversed. It is this switching of colors is what makes shooter fans love this game... and casual gamers throw the controller through the TV monitor in immense frustration.
So if you like a challenging scrolling shooter (like me), this is a great game. If you are not... well, some casual gamers like it, but some get too frustrated with it. I just ordered it, and I await eagerly.

Thanks for the info! I'm not into shooter games, though. I think I'll probably get Harvest Moon, because I have enough combat titles right now. (the brother's fault, lol)

Well well, Nintendo's Gamecube. So far not many games have grabbed my attention yet. I hear everywhere I go SSBM is the best, I have only once played it and that was my last time. I guss I am not into that kind of fighting game style. But if I had to chose the best games for GC they would be:
Gotcha Force - All time tops, another perfection from Capcom.
Ikaruga - Another perfect shooter from Treasure (but still not a a good enough sequal-like of Radiant Silvergun (for the Saturn).
Viewtiful Joe - Capcom does it again, great game.
and maybe Custom Robo... I need to try it first.. lol.

Smash Bros Melee! All the way! heehee! I bet I could could take any one of you. *evil grin*
Wind Waker- I luv this game! it's so kawaii! I wasn't so sure about the whole animation style at first, but it grew on me
Mario Kart:Double Dash- Heehee! This game is so much fun! Bbay Park is by far the best track.
Animal Crossing- It reminded me a lot of Harvest Moon, was highly addictive, and well, weird. Throw in some fire and a katana and it's be perfect. ^^
Metal Rear Solid!

SSBM: 'Nuff said.
Super Monkey Ball 2: This game couldn't be better if it tried.
Ikaruga: Word.
Viewtiful Joe: Rawks to the max0r.
Mario Party 4: I love this game. At least, I love it when friends are around. Otherwise it's terribly depressing.
Megaman Anniversary Collection: In two weeks, my life will be complete.
FF:CC: I've had this game for about a month and I've yet to play it. Probably because I got Ninja Gaiden at the same time. I mean, I love pseudo-RPGs, but nothing beats a rapping ninja.

I didn't like SSBM when I first played it, either. I couldn't figure out any of the moves and kept getting beat up by my younger cousins. But after I played it a while... well, it's my favorite game! I've had it forever and still play it all the time.
kirakira wrote:Mario Kart:Double Dash- Heehee! This game is so much fun! Bbay Park is by far the best track.
I like that one, but I'd have to say Wario Colosseum is the best.
Harvest Moon... Or Return of the King... argh! Can't decide!
Oh, and I found out the new Fire Emblem game isn't being released in Japan until this winter, so it's a good bet it won't be in America for quite some time. *sigh* But we
are catching up!
