New RPG maker

When everyone thought that we'd never see a PC RPG maker in the US legally, we MAY have another chance... We will not see RPG maker 2000 or 2003, but apparently, there is another one coming.
Among the changes are a higher resolution allowing for more detailed anime style characters and backdrops, increased color pallate, and... Well, that's all I can tell for now... It seems the reverted to the Dragon Quest style fighting that I thought they were rid of for good in 2003 (drats...) but maybe you have a CHOICE now in what battle style you want... I'm hoping, anyhow.
It seems to be similar to 2000 and 2003, so those of us familiar with the layout will be very comfortable... I just wish they hadn't gone back to that HORRIBLE dragon quest style fighting.

Sweet dealio! I gotta get this...it's the closest I'll be to a game developer without having to know demanding programming languages. I think I'll start penning down my storyline ideas.

Argh! I can't get it unless it works on Wine (well...maybe it DOES...)... maybe I'll just stick with manually programming C...

I just wish they weren't going back to that horrid Dragonquest style battling... They finally got smart with 2003 and made Final Fantasy style battles, but it looks like they got dumb again. This looks essentially the same as 2000/2003 except for the larger resolution and, I'm assuming, broader color range. I hope they decide to release this one legitimately, though... Otherwise I'll be very angry.

Sounds good and all..but I'll say this time and time again and I hope someone will listen this time. Lets get together a team or somthing and build a game. I'm serious, I'm really getting fustrated here.

RPG Maker 2000 was allready a tax on resources... I know it's going to be even worse in true color at 1024x768... I hope they do some speed improvements.
Benu: OOoh, yeah, we should if it ever comes here... A team RPG maker project. Of course we could only really have one person doing editing to maps and events (because it would be impossible to do it on more than one system...), but we could have more than one person making sprites, panoramas, battle backgrounds, animations, sound effects, and original music, and to work on the story we base it all around.

Hmmm a rpg project team consisted of CAA members wouldn't hurt. We could create a much larger game and cut down the time, hassle and programming of everything. Sounds like a good idea; I'm signed...if the game ever comes here. Heh : }

Well, I kidna was thinking we could ban together too do somthing whether or not this program comes out. I'm sure we could figure out somthing. I'm always going too be avalible too jump on board too help on any project since people don't seem too be willing too jump on and help me with some projects I want too get out. So let's put on our thinking foo's and start coming up with some ideas on how we can build a game that would be easy too do and not take a really, really long time yet it would still be a great game. Please, please....think about it.

Not everyone would even have to HAVE a copy of the program... We need Midi writers, character artists, people to make TEMPLATES for cool battle animations, face designers, anime artists (for the full size character pics in battle), and some people to record some good, original sound effects. The only people that need the actual program are the map designers, the scenario designer, the battle planner, the item and magic creators, and the battle animation creators. Those COULD all be done by one person, but really, we should have one person who's good at map design, and one person to set up the scenarios (based on a prewritten story)
We can't do a lot of it unless the program gets a US release, but we sure as heckfire can do the story and treatment for the game.
Oops... I didn't read your message correctly... You think we should do a group project other than RPG maker? That would require a bit more work, but maybe...
