Nope, TV series done with computer animation (like Cubix, Toy Story, Jimmy Neutron, etc.).

Saw part of the first(?) episode earlier... it had some funny moments, but I'm not sure if the show has any ability to last (we'll see)....

For some reason, the title of this thread reminded me of Spy Kids 3...

I was impassive about the issue in general, until I saw ninjas. If done properly, this could be a great show. If wrong, just stupid. I probably won't watch it in any case, but ah well. I did see a commercial.

"Game Over" was the name of the video game everyone in SK3D (which had one of the most poorly done story-lines and some of the worst acting that I've ever seen) got sucked into :thumb:

Hmm... I doubt I'd be watching this show, I dunno though.. the ninjas looked kinda cool (didn't get the wagon joke though)

This is an interesting concept, but I doubt that I will watch it. However, I liked Reboot (remember that show anyone?), so I would probably like this if I ever watched it.

I watched the premier ep. last night. Not bad. I don't expect it to last (then again, The Mullets lasted this long, so anything's possible), but I liked the various game references. The wife/mother is strongly reminiscent of Lara Croft. Someone slugs the husband/father in the face for no reason and he says "What is this, Vice City?". Towards the end the new "family pet" is being chased by scrabs, slogs, and paramites from Abe's Exoddus. Abe himself also sneaks by for a second in that same scene.

My questions would be these:
Was it funny?
How was the action (if there was any in the first episode)?

It was funny if you follow video games enough to get the jokes. Non-gamer types won't see the humor in it. The only "action" in it per se was the wife/mother's Tomb Raider-esque sequences and the husband/father's racing part (he's supposedly in a Nascar-type racing game). What the show really is about is how the game characters live their lives when the user isn't playing.

Understood. I have another question.

Does everyone just flatly admit that they exist within a video game? I mean, do they go to work and then go to a specific game? Or is everything merged together? Likewise, is the world videogame-esque when not specifically within a game?

Hmm, interesting. Doesn't look like anything I'd sit down and watch (unless it was really funny) but interesting nonetheless.

Nobody really comes right out and says they're in a video game. They just "go to work" and "work" happens to be the game that each individual is a part of (although as far as I know, the kids aren't part of any games, they're just part of the family).
Outside of "work", their own world is more or less normal (aside from the starring family's neighbors being a group of ninja). Although there are occasional references to different games (see my first post about the Vice City and Oddworld refs).

At first I thought the series had some potential myself, but amidst all the crude humor it lost its charm. That Vice City joke was priceless, though... but I don't see how they got away with showing a CG character's butt on TV.

Out of curiosity, is there any relation to a player of these video games? Or is their world just oddly similar to a game? Ah well... ninjas as neighbors. Interesting...

No, there's no mention of a player. Think of it as the "world" inside your video game console. Much like our own, but everything's somehow game-related.

Yeah, that butt thing surprised me, too. Coulda done just fine without it.
