Is anyone else a fan of this game? Personally I find the characters really well done, a bit sterotypical, but still pretty interesting. The cell shaded graphics are also really good as well.
I haven't beaten the game. As of yet, I just defeated Belius.

Oh, wait, I've heard of it. Part of Namco's Tales of Series, right?

The latest Tales game, yeah.
The gameplay is solid as always, and the characters are indeed fun if just a little shallow but that's par for the course from the series. These games are always kind of fluff fairytale. I was playing it like mad until I became stuck on a boss (the element changing manta ray thing at the end of the desert) and I haven't picked it up for awhile. It's a bad habit of mine when I get stuck with a game.
Really, though, I love the game. I adored Symphonia, but if I had to choose between the two female leads, I like Vesperia's better.

I have to say Vesperia was one of the few Tales games that I have played, but I found it to be quite fun. I played it alot about 6 months ago, but I haven't played it much recently. The characters are rather anime stereo types, but I like their designs more than that main character designs for Symphonia. Plus, Karol and Raven make the game quite funny. I need to start back up on that game and beat Scwan(sp).

I did finish this game. Yeah, the characters were stereotypical as all heck, but they got a few of the elements right. Overall, it is an ok rpg game, reminds me a bit of some of the older ones. The main problem being that some of the characters can just become pretty annoying.

The only Tales games I played (not counting the vesperia demo on the JP PSN) were Tales of Phantasia and that crappy PSP dungeon crawler, Tales of the World.
Phantasia was pretty cool, and I loved Eternal Sonata, so I was really looking forward to Vesperia coming to PS3, but tales of the World... Well, it was a dungeon crawler, which I hate, and the Vesperia demo's Battle system wasn't quite my style... Or, to be more blunt, I hated it... Maybe I'll like it better in English.

I stopped playing Tales games after Tales of the Abyss. They start off alright, but the fun tends to peter out about halfway through the game. This is either because the story seems like it was just lengthened for the sake of length after the halfway point or because the battle system lacks a certain something (like the feel of actually causing damage) to appeal to me in the long run. I'm not saying they're bad. They just aren't for me.

Maybe the Tales games are like the Dynasty Warriors and Samuri Warriors games. You either love or hate it or on a rare case in between?

For the most part, the Tales games are all pretty similar, so if you really don't like one, I don't think there is any particular reason you would necessarily like the others.
I'm still pretty annoyed with Namco-Bandai for not bringing over the DS installments of the series.
