From Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/5337927/all-weekend-valves-games-will-be-crazy-cheap

All standalone Half-Life titles (including Team Fortress Classic) are a whopping 66% off, meaning you can buy all seven of them for just $17. Or, if you want to be selective, Half-Life will cost you $3.40, Half-Life 2, $6.80.

If you have been planning to get them, now is the time!

And all with Steam! You can't get that much aggravation at three THOUSAND TIMES the price!

I bought Portal and spent most of the day howling at Steam. So I won't be buying Valve games anymore. That, and they're inveterate Mac haters, but considering Gabe Newell's history I'm not surprised.

Um, rant off.

Steam's irritating, but the games are well worth it.

Am I like the only Steam advocate here? XD

I like Steam. Of course, I'd like it more if they supported the Mac, but it has improved a lot and come a long way since it's launch. I prefer it over buying things from stores.

I'm old-fashioned and prefer to buy things at the store. That's why I haven't (and probably never will) buy anything through Steam. I'm also not that interested in most of Valve's games (except Portal, which I already have on the XBOX 360), so this deal doesn't mean that much to me.

You can't buy half-life 1 and its kin in the stores...

Stores wouldn't stock it even if you could. Online is your only choice for something like that.

It's mad slow on my computer and thanks to my brothers, I've got like five different accounts to go through if I want to play anything XD People, I just want to play my games...

Sure, I've got the Orange Box on the 360, but nothing takes the place of my computer.

Hey, Steam's all right. It's how I got Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box (which I highly recommend). I started with Steam when I got a hard-copy of Portal, but other than Burnout, I haven't really done anything with it. There are some pretty good old games and stuff on there that I'll probably pick up from there eventually; I mean, they've got a deal with LucasArts, which will hopefully post some of their old adventure games that I've heard are great (Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road; etc.).

Sam and Max Hit the Road is a classic. So is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Full Throttle.

However, you might as well just buy them used and run them under SCUMMVM, which is excellent and works anywhere by emulating the SCUMM interpreter. I don't have to dust off my old DOS box to be a freelance policeman, *and* I don't have to deal with Steam.

Okay, I'll stop ripping on Steam. Um, tomorrow. Maybe.
