World of Goo

How good is World of Goo? I downloaded it on WiiWare this morning and played it for about 15 minutes before I left for church, and I was BARELY able to tear myself away from it, and I was seeing goo structures being built before my minds eye for the whole rest of the morning. Like seriously, I would see some crisscrossing branches in a tree and think "man that looks just like a goo tower!"

But really, if you have a Wii, and you enjoy puzzle-like games even a smidgen of a bit, you would be doing yourself a massive disservice not to download this game! The whole thing was made pretty much by only two guys, and it's just simply stunning. It has a brilliant physics engine, beautiful design, music, colorful graphics, everything. It's 1,500 points to download, which is 15 bucks, and the game is far superior to most Wii games you would shell out 40 or 50 for.

It's hard to get the point across to you how fun it is if you haven't played it yet. It's a little like lemmings, and a little like a building game. I don't know,you just have to experience it. The level designs are wacky and brilliant, and so far I've only played a few from the first world. The game got all 9.5s and 10s from the major game review sites as well, so that has to say something.

Hey, it worked on the PS3 with Flow and Everyday Shooter...

How much extra content is on the paid version versus the free version online?

I'm playing the demo on PC, it's very cool. I'm stuck on the level with the frog and the spikes on the ceiling and floor (it's part of Chapter 1). How do you cross without flying into the spikes? That's the danger of the balloons.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I wasn't aware that there was a free online version of World of Goo, so I dunno how it compares, Bob.

Yeah I know what level you're talking about! You just have to be careful with how many baloons you use. Like when the whole structure sags close to the spikes put a baloon out on the end to pull it back up and then keep building out to weigh it down again before the balloon pulls it too high. Just repeat that, and leave the balloons that you already used in place to support the whole thing while you build towards the pipe.

Okay, thanks mate!

Bob, the free version is just a demo.
The full version has an Intro, 4 Chapters and an Epilogue (about 5 hours play). The free version has most or all of Chapter 1 (and that's all).

Yes and you don't get to really experience the amazing innovation and charm until you play through all 4 chapters!!

The Tower of Goo level (Chapter 1) is very difficult. I can't seem to get the stability needed to build the tower to the necessary height. It just keeps toppling over in the wind.
