Sonic and the Secret Rings

So, anybody play this game yet? What do you think? And do you enjoy the strange sort of comedy behind the mini-game "Aim! Big Crossbow"?!

I actually think Sonic is a little more believable in this game than in other games that I've seen. I mean, his voice is a little more toned down, and he's not as "OH, NEW COMPETITION!!" as he was in past games like Sonic Riders. He was sort of obnoxious in the opening CGI movie for that. But yeah, I like him better in this game.

My Wii owning (and 360 owning) friend said that Sonic Rings is probably the worst game in the series, and he likes the one on the 360 (which is the one released on the PS3)

The reason he cited for hating it? It's all on rails, wheras Sonic Adventure had some free-roaming, and he hated the controls.

I have yet to play either. I'll probably try out the PS3 version when I end up getting mine.

Are you uhhh sure you're not thinking of Sonic Riders? That was the racing game all on rails (and although I'm tempted to buy it because it's my beloved Sonic... I just can't :/)

Sonic and the Secret Rings has him RUN through jungles, deserts etc. I've only played past the first few levels. Pretty fun, different, haven't had time or a chance to go back to playing it (but I will eventually^^), but the levels are a little repetitive. You'll go through the level once with the objective of getting through and then going over and doing it again for something else. Still, it's interesting^^ Need to play more of Sonic for PS3 too...

I heard bad, bad, bad things about this game. I would link you to a comic I read about it, but it has a lot of language and isn't CAA appropriate. The part that sticks out to me the most is:

Apparently you are stuck in "Super Linear Mode" the whole time, meaning that you can walk backwards, but you can't RUN backwards which is stupid.

Also, the controls are described as "clunky and unresponsive" which means that attempts at avoiding doom will be hilariously futile.

I have heard it's better than the horrendous 360 Sonic that recently came out, but that isn't saying much.

Well, I guess I'm biased mostly because I'm a Sonic fan. Although I can say that I'm not too particularly thrilled about the opening theme; it's too rough-sounding for my tastes.

On the whole, the game is all right, but it could've been better in some parts.

On a side note, I enjoyed Sonic Riders; yeah, sure, there's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get that down it's not so bad.
