Anyone else on here a fan of Dungeons and Dragons? Before anyone says anything, I know it has it's pitfalls and hazards, but so does most anything else you can do. So, if anyone else is a fan, say so here, and give your favorite class, ok? I happen to like Cleric, because, not only is it the most balanced of all the classes, it's also the best healer in the entire system!

Ahh yes...D&D. I do wish I could find someone to play with me in the traditional fashion (which I never have, though I know the rules and want to play sometime), but I have played D&D-based PC games and enjoyed them. I like the game system, and I'd have to say my favorite class would be the Sorcerer. True, they are weak and once your spells are gone you're toast, but they make up for it with sheer firepower and make great support characters.

A friend of mine and I played a number of sessions by ourselves(both of us were sorcerors, btw) and we managed fairly well.
I'm a D&D fan too, obviously. As for a preferred class, I'd have to say rogue. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy other classes, but those tend to be my favorites.

D&D is cool on paper and I couldn't wait to try and play it. Till I actually played it =/ I guess if I found a more serious group to play with it would be fun but if you've ever seen 8 Bit D&D on newgrounds, thats pretty much what it was like with my group.
My favorite class is the rogue though. I don't usually play as anything else... that goes for all RPGs where you pick your class and stuff. I prefer subtle and "tricksy" to powerhouse and "CHAAARRGE!".

I've played with a couple of playgroups myself, and I can agree that the playgroup is what makes or breaks the game. Get a bunch of people who want to make a joke out of it, and that's what it'll become =s

Well, the group I play with, and the way I play, is that we should focus and play the game, but there's no reason why we can't have fun doing it. The DM and everyone will get on tangents and so forth, and we'll laugh and do random BS from time to time, but we do do serious roleplaying most of the time. Assuming the DM has gotten his meds for his ADHD and so forth.

That was always my problem with our group. I think we tried to get too serious. I enjoyed when it was a big joke, and we weren't all serious, because when you get too serious, you stray dangerously close to LARP-level nerdery, and that's bad for everybody.

I love D&D in just about any form
Normally play as elf or half-elf Ranger

I play all the time. We tend to focus more on roleplay then twinking a character.
My favorite changes every time I am asked. Many classes have their good and bad points.
...right now? Wizard.

Paladins rule all. Though I also enjoy playing sorcerers (not wizards, though). I'm also quite fond of fighters, but truth be told I'd rather be a paladin than a fighter (unless I'm working for a certain prestige class). I don't like to play rogues, druids or rangers.

I havent ever played paper D&D, but I have played several D&D pc games. I found my favorite class is a multi-classed half elf fighter/mage. I am currently going through Baldurs Gate II: Throne of Bhaal solo with my fighter/mage and have done pretty well so far.

My last D&D campaign, I was the only person playing their own sex, so I had my character removed from the game and rolled a female. It's the first time I've ever done it and I was having a blast. We were doing a pirate themed faerun game. My girlfriend was the dashing and handsome captain Edwards, my friend Brendan was the beefy Barbarianette shipwright, and I rolled a drow and used a prestige class from the old sword and fist book. It was the lasher or something like that. A prestige class based around using whips. My girlfriend and I had polar opposite characters who did not get along at all. It was very cool.
